Hi All,

I'm doing a couple of track days next month and need to get the geometry checked, so in a similar vein to iceman's post I'm after geometry settings :)

Having looked at this post:

http://www.ek9.org/forum/suspension/3075-alignment-tracking-specifications.html

I can see the range that's achievable, but what would be recommended for a setup that's good on track but not going to eat tyres on the road? (I appreciate that ideally each track will have a specific setup).

I haven't had any experience of setting up a front wheel drive car for trackdays so any advice appreciated :)

The car has stock suspension and 15" wheels with OEM tyres by the way.

This is the kind of info I'm looking for and have used in the past - NOTE this is for an RX-7 not a Civic:

i'm getting mine done next week after fitting new Mugen RTA and front complience bushes as well as some Tein SS coilovers

will post up the sheet after it's done but going for ->>

front toe - 0

rear toe - 1 degree toe out

Cool, thanks for that. Will look forward to seeing the sheet :)

Cheers,
Alex

ok got mine done on Wednesday.........

got the fronts set to 0 toe and the rears at 0.5 degree total toe out and it feels really good, rear end feels more eager to swing round in corners which i wanted

as for camber, i don't have adjustable camber arms so at the moment (running it fairly low on Tein SS coilovers) the camber is -1.4 degree on the fronts and -2.3 degree on the rear

obviously you want more -ve on the fronts than rears though....... i would want to run maybe -2 degree on the front and -1 degree on the rears if i had adjustable arms :)

:nice: Nice information!

Hmmmm, I'm not a suspension expert, but I think the caster is way too much, what do you guys think? for me 3+ is the max you should use!

stevenek9, to eliminate some of rear neg camber you can just use good grade washers behind oem upper arms, use different thicknesses to get desired camber on back

rvm - you did see the bit in the original post where I said this info was for an RX-7 not a Civic didn't you?

stevenek9, iceman - thanks for your input. To be honest I've been surprised at the lack of geometry setup information for this car, considering they were made to be driven properly i.e. on track. It's not like I'm asking for track geometry settings for a Ford Galaxy or something!

A lot of good recommendations already. I agree with stevenEK9's recommendations at least to start.

If you have stock suspension that pretty much limits you to what you can and should adjust at the moment as well. Should you change to coilovers in the future, you ought to pick up a front and rear camber kit. Caster is not adjustable, nor is camber (in the front) with the stock suspension.

Some EK9 owners have opted to go for the 98spec upper rear control link, but having used that piece I would rather get a camber kit to start. Even with aftermarket arms, the front caster is not adjustable. Some have experimented with swapping the front upper control arms from left to right for more caster. Some have liked it, some didn't and later it was discovered that it produced an undesirable bump curve.

I actually like to begin with replacing all the rubber bushings. Things like the rear lower control arm with our spherical bearings will give a more direct feedback. After all, the newest EK9 is soon to be 10 years old!

Have you heard of SPC? They offer 2 different sets of front arms that are both camber and caster adjustable in 1 piece.
More on these in this thread.

spc are very good bits of kit, ive got there rear arms and quality compared to other brands is way better, mate has forged arms for front of eg and also very nice, has caster adjustment as well, not cheap though

im running a standard camber arm up front but going for spc, just need to decide if i want to replace balljoints in my oem arms to allow just camber adjust or get whole spc arm that allows caster as well, the steel version for ek9 is cheaper but not sure if that version allows caster adjustment

i dont know anyone or heard of anyone runnin the A spec arm and cant get info on it but looks like good piece
