When I bought car I did know it had a but of rust on arches but didn't think it was bad although couple days later I poked my finger right through it I wa gutted really thought I was gna need a new arch but found this stuff ISOPON T40 here's what I done

Cut rust away and gave it a good wire brush to make a key
Used the wire stuff plasterers use for chip board and placed it on back of hole
Pasted the fibre glass on the back and a bit on the front and used a old credit card to shape to car
After half a hour it is set solid as good as metal
Sanded and shaped it
Now ready for paint

Looks rough but will add pic once painted

Deary me! A) why would you not remove the bumper, you've scratched it for what reason exactly? B) I can still see rust, a wire brush will not do it. All those bubbles will come through in no time I'm afraid!

Please tell me this is an April fools attempt!

I'll give it half an hour in the rain, rust will come back through that. Do the job properly, or leave it alone.

for the record its been like that for 3 weeks all rust was cut away with a dremal the wire brush was used to key the surface so that the fibre glass would stick only reason its not painted is because halfords didnt and still dont have the colour of paint that i need to paint it the bumper is scuffed because the person that had it before me had reversed into a wall and damaged the bumper so i have a new 1 lying in shed also waiting for paint and area around where i cut was treated with hammerrite rust treatment and remover

Good temporary fix buddy,
Ignore the grouchy lot above ;)

If it was in any other section it would be ok, but its in the DIY section as a how to, which it is clearly not. I mean he didnt even take the rear bumper off and try to actually sort the arch out and prevent scratching the shite out of the bumper in the process.

the scratches were there before i even started as i said the person i got it from had reversed into a wall so i didnt see the point taking it off to sand rest down aslo having a brand new bumper lying in shed there isnt much of a issue with the bumper

Thanks thats all it is its a tempory fix untill i have the funds for a body shop to fix it properly either by replacing pannel or what ever they do :)

Did this myself as a temporary fix and cut away bad metal with a grinder, it def is temporary and you will be lucky if it lasts for 6months until it comes through again.

I had my arches replaced with 1/4 repair panels to fix it properly

thats all it is mate is a temp fix till i save the funds for a new pannel to be fitted how much was it for your repair ??

I got the car fully resprayed inside and out at the same time mate so don't have a price for just the rear 1/4s

I would imagine that a good body shop would be looking for around £900 to do it properly and spray both sides of the car

Fair play to you mate, least you gave it a try. End of the day your not gonna make it worse so why not try your hand at it :nice:
