Read this if you want to change your final drive!

stand corrected, jesse888 is right.. you need dc2 s80 1st gear shaft and spacing to fit the 4.75 into a ek9 s4c... my bad:(

I stated that in a post half way down the previous page,
I really wish people would make more effort to read and research things like this (as it's pretty common knowledge anyway) instead of disagreeing and posting incorrect information that could confuse or mislead other members

Rant over:p

We have the right to our own opinion weather its right or wrong, in this case I was wrong.. and I corrected myself in the end.. some of us are learning.. get over it

not sure if this has been covered some s4c boxes comes with a 4.26 final drive as standard.

my civic Jordan had one in which I thought was a 4.4 as standard then I took the gearbox apart counted the teeth and it was in fact a 4.26. think a lot of people running a standard box might have this final drive in there car....

Can any one point me in the right direction of which models/year I will find a B16/B18 gearbox Non Lsd with a 1.9 2nd gear and a FD of 4.2?

Most gearbox have the 4.2 in as long as the don't have lsd I opened up 4 trying to get a 4.4 and gave up..

Non LSD 4.2 FD in Euro EK4 or EG6

1.9 2nd gear only in MB6 LSD S9B gearbox if I remember right

By the way 5th gear seems to be a bit shorter in Euro gearboxes than in JDM ones. EK4 S4C 5th gear is a bit shorter than EK9 S4C 5th.

Ive gone down the final drive route in the early days. Ive tried the 4.7 and 4.9. I can say its quite suited to the average modified car until something drastic has changed with your engine powerband/peak power/redline etc.

I have found that with my current engine output and powerband, the 4.9 final drive doesnt do it justice. Revving faster with less top speed in each gear made me realise how much im missing out. Once you get to this stage, you better hope you had retained your original 4.4 Final Drive and modify each gear to suit your engine powerband.

For example, an engine that makes 175 to 195whp between 7500-9500rpm. You can make complete use of this powerband by ensuring you rev longer in this powerband on every gearshift - longer final drive, shorter gear sets. Your car will be faster period.

Revving quicker with shorter final drive and long gears works better on street low rpm driving, where you rev up to your powerband quicker between 1000-6000rpm. But in racing conditions, you want to stay in your max powerband for longer with more speed cap in each shift.

I learnt this from building my K24 beast which had a 4.2 final drive. Accelerates faster than the A45 AMG from 100kmph onwards.
