Rate your suspension set up

Anyone tried Ohlins DFV?

Spring rate 12/5 kg/mm
heard its superc-comfortable on the street; DFV acts like a blow-off valve on big bumps
Maybe too much body roll for hard track cornering.....
Costs GBP 3k+

tama666's mid level budget street setup:

unknown really, something like 2500 USD'ish [without wheels and tires listed above]

Current setup...

Coils: Swift race springs, 22k front and 20k rear
Shocks: Tein circuit master N1 short stroke alloy bodied coilovers, fully rebuilt at Tein uk
Bushings Hardrace bushes throughout, mugen RTA bushes, superflex rear arb mount, energy suspension front arb mount
Sway bars: oem
Bracing: PasswordJDM front 3 point upper / Unit-8 H-brace / PassowrdJDM 2 point rear upper / Cusco rear lower / Safety devices 8 point roll cage with door bars / J's racing inner wing braces
Extra: Skunk 2 pro series front camber adjusters, SPC rear camber adjusters, Buddyclub roll centre adjusters, all new oem honda track rod inners/outers/ARB drop links front and rear. car completely stripped - circa 950kg, spoon 1.5 way plated diff, power steering removed
Tyres: Toyo R888 medium 195/50/15
Wheels: 15x7" +35 Buddyclub P1 SF, 6mm front spacers
Engine mounts: Innovative 75A / no torque mounts

Pro´s: Proper race setup, handles so flat and sharp it's unreal

Con´s: Causes you to drive like a loon, the diff is nasty at low speed and clunks/snatches like nothing else, the suspension is very stiff so can jump about the road a bit at high speeds however remains planted on corners

At 22/20 is the jump like a kick?

Huh?

Being very expensive 2 way adjustable coilovers the dampers do actually soak up alot on the road, once the suspension loads up in a corner if you hit a but there is very little bump steer if any at all

However with the high rates it's very bumpy on the road and requires full concentration on uneven roads haha

never driven a 20/22 on the road...by bumpy, do mean like a pogo stick? canu hold your lunch down?

Johnny 9 -

whats the stuff at the top of this page all about....
Miata 90 - 97 isn't that a mazda MX5.....and stuff about RX8's
thought this page was for civic suspension surely the suspension on a miata is completely different to a civic so therefore even the very best on a miata might be awful ride on a Civic... i just don't get how its relevant...???

also is it copy and pasted, as ther is stuff about phone calls to a customer for setup ????... this is supposed to be a thread where people inform others of their setup if people were thinking of buying...

I'm confused ???? sory if i've been dumb its nice information but its irelevant to everyone on here... as this is a Civic forum.

Today i installed K-Sport adjustable coilovers cost 1000 euros i checked it in our road here with some turns for mates from Greece also known as Limanakia and the car is very good i loved it!

No i mean as in stiff, pogo stick effect is what happens when people ramp the damping up and the damper rods are rebounding mega fast causing the car to oscillate

I did feel sick after a drive earlier, but that was more the fact the harness was digging in under heavy braking from the 300mm race brembos

Love to see the Rebound damping Shock-Dyno curve - on your TEIN Circuit master N1, is that low speed rebound only, or does the adjuster adjust the whole curve? How does it drive over uneven surfaces, small potholes or ridges?

They are inverted 2 way adjustable mono-tube dampers, separate adjustment for rebound damping and compression damping

I need to have a proper play about with the adjustment, on track they are fantastic, you can see by the video i put up here there is very little roll if any at all and you can attack corners aggressively http://www.ek9.org/forum/photos-videos/33895-knockhill-sidc-trackday-19th-march.html

On the road the car can feel a bit crashy on uneven surfaces - to be expected with the spring rates, but in the corners it holds like nothing else

Steven, what alignment are you using currently? I recall seeing 4degrees of front camber somewhere?

front upper arms on wrong sides for a touch of extra castor
0 toe front
0.5mm toe out per side rear
-4.5 deg camber front
-1 deg camber rear

Suspension raked forwards slightly, car is very low though as the suspension doesn't do high, running roll centre adjusters too

Sorry to ask this but can you post a in-car video of car going over uneven surfaces.

Thanks - if the adjuster for low-speed or high speed rebound?
