Power Stearing Problem

I had numerous PS pumps fail on me.

Ultimately I decided to chuck the whole power steering system. Manual steering now and I haven't looked back since.

Worth considering if it isn't your daily.
might just do this bud saves hastle and i don't really mind. was meant to be selling the car soon though so might be easier to sell with it working

There's a few threads on how to convert the rack. What suspension you running?

thanks for the info bud i will look into it. if air is leaking in there should be constant bubbles coming from the cap when i bleed it would there not ??

Have you inspected the lines? I doubt 3 pumps you have had have all been bad your issues are elsewhere as B16SWT has said.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but did you ever get to the bottom of his issue? I'm currently dealing with a similar issue and struggling to solve it.

Cheers

I didn't see this when it was posted but this is common on imprezas they have a weak o ring on the pump to high pressure pipe union. Usually when it's cold and the seal fails they draw air into the high pressure line and airate the system the effect is a noisy pump. People replace pump after pump but never the seal and the problem just goes on. Worth checking/changing the seal on the hp line
