pdapaul's YellowSpeed Time Attack EKK24 on ITBS

Looking great Paul!
I've got one of those little fuse boxes to wire up in mine. Neat aren't they!
Really neat, and cheap as chips!
Because I wont have any oem switchgear I'll be starting the interior loom from scratch. Hondata have done a nice schematic for ecu wiring will negate the use of an oem loom for that as well

So much Awesome stuff going on in this build... I will be watching closely!!

Are you going up to 17" front and rear? I'm at 16" front and 15" rear now and it seems to work well but I've always wondered would moving up to 17 front 16 rear give more grip with the right size of tyre

I have already said to @Beetlejuice that I would be interested in the tubular subframe when it's tested and available, great mod for taking weight off the front end

Yes I'll be starting off with 17 x8 front & rear. Dependant on testing I'll then maybe consider a 17 x 9 on the front, but we'all see.

It's all a bit of guess work atm as I've no idea how the car is going to be on track. With the tubular front and rear subframes and the rigidity in the cage there aren't many builds I can look at to gauge how it will handle. I had 15 x8 front and rear on the EK, and that was just fantastic, so that seemed as good a place to start as any.

It been the same picking gearbox components, I just don't know how much the decreased weight is going to effect it to make informed choices on ratios. I think 2017 will just be a big learning curve tbh.

Testing is the only way to find out really unless you have a very similar car to compare to which you don't

How come you decided to move from 15" up to 17"? Do you know if an increase in diameter provides more grip if your not increasing width?

Gearing is a tricky one because ideally you need different ratios for each circuit. What you could try and do is find out what top speed you will need then add a few mph... Make that your 6th gear ratio and work back from there

From having chats with people I've been given the impression that the 17x8 should offer more corner grip (whilst a little loss of traction of the line and possibly under braking). The main reason for me was to bring the size of the sidewalls down as the Pirelli is only offered in a 225/50 in a 15". I was getting a lot of sidewall deflection due to the sheer size of the sidewall and I think the car will be more stable mid corner with a smaller sidewall. Again, testing will be the only way I can get any kind of idea of how it will all work.

I've looked quite hard into ratios doing exactly what you've suggested, I use the mfactory gear calculator which has been a great aid in deciding.

really nice job on the cage! i've plans for something similar on my next Civic rally car shell except with a removable lower subframe in case of an off, make it easier to replace!

id be interested in hearing more about this tublar subframe when its complete!

I know!!!
It's a toss up between Galway or youjizz.com when I have a bit of me time :)
Srs!

They made a lot of parts for my car, quality is unreal

Have you won the lottery :troll:
Ha! I wish.... came with the rolling shell when I bought it!

Have you to use steel to close up the rear floor? Or could you use carbon?

I'll be using carbon sheet. It offers no structural value, it's pretty much just to keep crap from getting in the cabin.

That rear frame looks great, look forward to seeing it finished,
I've that same fuel cell in my mini, it was quite sensibly priced at the time

More bits have been landing for the eg.

First the gearbox parts
Mfactory plated diff
Mfactory 5.1FD
Mfactory close ratio 3-6th gear

And after much deliberation I've decided to start testing on 17x9 et20 fronts and 15x8 et0 rears. I've still got a set of 17x8's, so the plan is to try and have a play with different wheels. But the plan is to have the staggered set up for dry (255/40/17 f 225/50/15 r), and 17x8's all round (225/45/17) for the wet.
The 17's look huuuuuge!! I'm not quite sure how I'm going to get them on the car (or the car on the trailer ha ha.

Cage is now nearly finished, and the real subframe and arms are complete.
@Beetlejuice 's work as per usual is absolutely awesome. Collecting it next week and then it's off for paint. With my workloads and other things I've put back my first outing of TA till end of June, but having come this far I don't want to rush anything.
