pdapaul's YellowSpeed Time Attack EKK24 on ITBS

That's my thought. It links in quite nicely as well with the canards and the lower lip.
I'm having another play tomorrow, so I'll try a few other ideas.

Full flare looks much better, maybe cutting away the rear portion of the arch to allow air to escape?

ive thought about that, and had discussions with a guy who designs aero. His opinion is that is creates really messy air when the fenders are cut, and that the standard shape is better. I know from articles that in the US a lot of track cars cut it away. It's also quite difficult to go with Msa rules as you aren't supposed to be able to see the tyre when looking from behind.

Sooo, looked at the rear arches today, and there is virtually no room at all. The picture doesn't actually show how close it is, and the tyre protrudes

So after rolling the arches there still wasn't enough really, as with the height of the 50 tyre I'm going to have to lower it 15mm to get to the height it was previously.
Sooooooo
STOP.....hammer time

It's only an initial sizing, but it will defo give me clearance..I've also trimmed the bumper to create a smoother line.

So now i can either get it to a bodyshop to fill and profile the arches, or I can fit fender flares like below

I dont see why your having so much trouble fitting the tyres in there mate.. I ran 225 45 16 AD08 all round with little effort and road spring rates..

I'll be honest me neither!! I searched prior to buying the Tyres, and knew there would be some modifications, but not to this extent. I know my car is quite low, but not aggressively so.

Even with the fronts rolled I could just about fit a 205/50/15, and with the 225 they were pretty much touching the tyre.
Ball ache tbh

Just read all this and its looking really good. Tyre situation is a little strange if you look at some of the jap tuning companies they run 255 tyres up front on some of their civics. Hope youve got it sorted with what you have done.

Keep up the good work.

Ben

Due to a change of plans I'm going to be staying NA for the next year. I really want to try other series, but once I'm boosted I will pretty much be tied to Time Attack.

So both the charger kit and injectors will be up for sale this week.

I really need to start deciding what I want to do before I reach for my wallet :)

K24 and some nice cams? ;)

Wow just read your build and watched your track videos!
Fantastic!
Makes me want to turn mine into a full blown race car.
Respect!

Cheers bud, it's always great to get such nice feedback

Ha ha..nothing that fancy :)
I'm staying the same engine wise for the moment and concentrating on handling. I want to do some rounds of vtec challenge, and I think I can be quite competitive at my current power(hopefully :) )

Awesome, look forward to seeing how you get on dude!

Got the arches test fitted today. With the extra room given by manipulating(smacking the shît out of) the rear arches and trimming the front it means I can use the 225/50/15's and space the rears out 20mm and front 10mm.
Got the sills installed, and I think it gives a good overall outline up the car. I've tried to line all of the exterior plastics so they give a smooth aero line.
Pleased with the outcome, just wish I had a black car so I didn't have to wrap the plastics :)

Told you it was close :-(
I'm having to trim the headlight support bracket(where you can see the captive nut) by about 30mm as the tyre smacks it on full lock.

Your suspension best be pretty hard lol
What size is that? 225/50/15? They look a lot bigger than that!

Thankfully yes very :)

Yes just a Pirelli TrofeoR 225/50/15. The picture is on an 8j, it was even worse on a 7j

On the plus side though the car looks wiiiiide with these tyres on ha ha.wait till you see what I've had to do to the rears to get them to fit :)

Car goes down to TDi for a few bits and a preseason check. Spent the weekend getting it ready for them and sling some of the legwork.

Got my Mocal Oil cooler fitted with thermostatic plate.

Fitted my Ktuned traction bar, so I could get the radiator brackets etc marked up and fitted.

And started trimming the inner arches to give me a bit more space. Hopefully making the lip flat will be me another 10-15mm.
