Hi all,
I'm in the process of getting kswap EK9 ready for 2015 Time Attack, thought I'd share my progress. I bought haitch's KSWAP back in July and it looked like this

I'm going to post again my posts (from CTRO) so these were basically starting back from July 10th.
I could rewrite them but I really am too lazy :)

Had the car a couple of weeks now, and managed to get it taxed and tested (raze car mot  )and also been on a track day to croft with the HOT lot

The car was really good, but I felt there was more to get from it, so arranged for TDi to check it out and see what they thought.

Paul put it on the dyno, and it pretty much took a full dyno session to sort the shît map out. Ben also took a look at the geo, which was almost perfect apart from the toe. That would explain why the diff was trying to pull my arms off on roundabouts.

Once it was all done, the test drive was eye opening. More power, more stability and grip, it's a right weapon now!!

Next up is getting the weight out of the car. I'm getting it weighed tomorrow, and then the angle grinder out at the weekend.

I'm doing Ten of The Best in 2 weeks :)

Had a few hours spare today, so out came the spanners and the cutters

Spent some more time with the cutter and snips, and have taken out

Wiring
Xenon
Alarm
All heater system(blower, matrix etc)
Air bag system complete

And replaced

Steering wheel
Lighter door mirrors (non electric, not heated)

All in all took out about 27kg :-D

Still a lot to take out, hopefully

But it's quite empty in the front now

New wheel

Also been down to TDi f to fit a new Competition Clutch stage 4 and a Clockwise motion flywheel. At 2.9kg weighs 1.7kg lighter than the Dc5 fly. Fantastic service as ever from the bits and the car feels fantastic after a few little tweeks by Neil & Adam.

Ian's changed his flywheels a little, but they are still a thing of beauty!!

Next stop new discs and then get ready for TOTB next weekend :p

i take it the broken line is the previous tune, serious improvement

Been fettling away at the car...main aim is still to get the weight down!

So it's been mainly this

:-D

So trimmed the inside of the carbon bonnet

Another 2.5kgs gone

Yes, the fueling was all over the place and running really rich. That is literally just a retune, no parts were added or taken away.

Also stripped the boot, and lost another 6.5kgs. Just waiting for the poly rear window now

And started stripping the rear further

I'm not a massive fan of sliding rails either, so had a set of fixed rails fitted!

Managed to trim the doors to minimum as well, and even got a little paint on there!!!

Started to sort the floor as well, and got one half primered

And now sh1t just got real :)

For a number of reasons, I've decided to fit a small race tank. This unfortunately means cutting the hell out of the boot. Never deterred, I just got stuck in!!

With tin snips

Got bored of that and out came the grinder :-D

Tank lands next week, so need to find a few hours over the weekend to finish trimming and tidying up the boot

It turns out I'm a bit of a knob, and that by doing this I have taken most of the structure from the rear end

Thankfully Shaun at SW motorsports has seen it all before, so I took it down for him to sort out. I discussed other points on the car as well, and he's going to further beef up the rest of the cage to help with safety and also rigidity.

Here are a few pics of the bracing...

Not long till I get the car back now

Here are a few progress shots, the final ones in primer. Once I get it back I can paint the inside and then off for exterior paint :p

Cars back from SW Motorsports, so time to get cracked on.

Got the rear sanded today and sprayed up. Chuffed :-D

Back at it this weekend finishing the interior. Managed to get nearly all of it painted, just need to do the doors this weekend.

In preparation for fitting a SW Motorsports brake bias I removed the brake servo, master cylinder, abs and prop valve.

Very empty bay now

In between paint coats drying I noticed quite a bit of unused wiring as well, so set about whipping it out whilst I was waiting

There's been loaadsssss of late nights, early mornings and scraped knuckles, but that's it in a nutshell. In the process of preparing the bodywork at the moment, ready for a colour change. Luckily I have a workshop, so I'm in at 6 every morning for a hour or do before work and then after and weekends.

#knackered

Surprised the map was crap. I think Chris had it re done a few times by different people, at least it's better now.

Was scrolling down through the pics and thought oh no! When I seen the rear seat area chopped out! Turned out great though
