pdapaul's YellowSpeed Time Attack EKK24 on ITBS

Gosh...you arent messing about. This makes mine look like a daily drive!

Did seem strange as Chris flew in it! It really was rich though, it was doing approx 70miles to 1/2 a tank. These things happen.

I'll be honest if I knew then what I knew now I would have kept the grinder in the cupboard. I washopingbto be ready for the last round of TA last week, but my stupidity has put me back about 2 months.
Ah well you live and learn.

Would have seen you there...my best mate came 2nd in club rear by 0.09secs. Was sharing a garage with the turbo ek and mark's eg 2.2.

Ahh Mr Burnets EG..thank god he's not doing all of the rounds ha ha

I bet he's there for the first round @ Cadwell as he's the track pro :)

He turned up to collect an engine block I sold on ebay for 20quid...small world.
At Cadwell he's veryyyy quick.

I mentioned you actually (its me after your dampers). ;-)

Ahh John..hiya buddy. Sorry for delay in contacting you, as you can see its a little full on at the moment. Are you ok waiting a few more weeks?

You sold him his current block for £20??? I'd claim royalties :)

Whilst the exterior is being prepared the car is looking very sorry for itself.

Poor car :-(

Damn you really ruined that chassis, hope that bracing fixes it...

Get a proper cage in there that integrates the strut towers to the cage structure, I would also gusset the b-pillars in since you removed a lot of material from the rear inner panels.

Don't get me wrong, definitely deserves an A+ for effort but read up on what you are doing before getting out the grinder.

... keep it up and have a look at the link below for some inspiration

Cheers guys :)

When I took the first parts out I had it weighed, and it was down to 960kg with 1/2 a tank.

The problem with the rear is that I took out about 25kgs and replaced it with about 40kgto put the strength back in :-/

If I can get it down to 950kgs (with a passenger seat) I'll be over the moon. I think it's a tall order now though

Brave , very brave lol.
A* for effort.

I do wonder what this weighs now, not much left to it.

Nah no rush. ;-)

Your 40kg has likely made it stiffer than it was.

I believe mine was 970kg with 2 seats and more stuff left in than yours, but the ek4 brakes and hubs are lighter.
Im down a seat and glass windows now, and elec window motors, abs etc still to remove.

Cheers buddy.

The new pipe work will definitely have stiffened the chassis. It's basically tied in to the suspension points under the car, and then to the centre crossmember. That is then tied in to the original welded in cage. He's then put additional bars on from the rear cage pickup to the cage at the b pillar. To top it off he's added gusset from the cage to both the b & a pillar. It's beautiful :) . The car handled really well to begin with and I can only imagine the extra strength and rigidity will have helped.

If yours was that light then I may hit the 950kg mark. My plexi rear screen has just landed as well which should help

I know..it seemed like such a good idea at the time as well!!

I'm still sure I'd seen it done somewhere before :-/
