The magnet broke in the gearbox and destroyed some of my bearings,
Spent whole day with another magnet and a little flat filler gage
Fishing the bits out ,
It was everywhere, DO NOT USE EVER .

Oh man wtf! :angry::(
Yeah that's what I said when I took the drain bolt out and seen the whole magnet gone .
It was in every nook and cranny tiny tiny bits
It was stopping my bearings from moving grinding like a mofo.
And to make matters worse this happened

**** luck bud. I had a issue with the jap service parts sump bolts . The magnetic end started to chip after about 1k. Binned it and went for a set of spoon. No issues since

Damn! And the clutch springs too wtf :( Genuine exedy clutch too right. I've got an exedy on mine no issues so far thankfully. Maybe warranty or something could help as you mentioned, worth a shot trying maybe?

Yeah its all put back together now bar half shaft and coolant and gearbox oil ,
I went with LUK clutch kit this time and buy the looks of it
It's one over the exedy imo,
6 spring 2 small 2 bigger and 2 bigger again,
So if all goes well when I turn the key I will report back on the luk,
Iv never split a box before and done bearing so I'm really hoping I didn't mess up .
Even the the release bearing looks better quality
My koyo bearing was in a very bad state along with the pilot bearing, funny enough my input shaft bearing looked very new , but I had to change it anyway, magnet stuck to everything

So here is a good one ,
I put everything back together broke my back in the garden and turned the car over and knock knock knock ,
Turned it off fast , nearly started crying lol ,
So I went at it again like a mad man ,
Had the box pulled off within 50 minutes
And low and behold the pressure plate was hitting the inside of the box just buy a mm
So instead of going to the hassle of getting a replacement I got the grinder out and ground the corner of the pressure plat and I done the far corner to keep the balance,

So put it back on and this time I started the car with minimal parts on it just in case I feck up the gearbox rebuild,
Turned car over and whine whine turned it off and this time a was a lot closer to haven a break down
So I said feck it I will drive it like that , I don't care ,
Put the rest of the parts on wheels and left the bumper off tool it down the road and and low and behold
She was 100% could not believe it ,
Such a relief.
I didn't take pictures of the clutch plate just had no time or care too .
What a few days iv had .

Ahhh man glad it's 100% now! I feel your pain, when my 2nd engine died :( oh **** this I don't care anymore, just gonna leave it like that haha I know that feeling too well! fingers crossed no more issues mate

Well I wasn't sure tbh, till yesterday, because when I put it all back together there was a grinding sound and a hump hump sound lol , so I was sure I fecked something up in the gearbox, but turns out my front left wheel bearing was bad,
It took a crap on me when I took of the 32 bolt ,
Done the two fronts and she rolls like butter again.
Buuut , after me doing all that work my mate let the gearbox hang on the shaft in the pilot bearing,
So I'm back to the sound of a bad pilot bearing or input shaft bearing , because he crushed one or both ?
Or my other bearings in gearbox are bad ?
Doesn't matter now because I'm going to have to drop the box and redo all bearings this time .
I right pain tbh.

Japserviceparts for the bearings I had to do mine a while back. I have my civic off the road now front ball joint broke and caused some damage to the passenger side fs

Good lord! Broke clean off ? I'd say that made a mess of the car and your jocks .
Glad you came out okay , but go's to show a little ball joint can be the killing of ye .
Yeah japparts have them priced well , I'm not doing it till after Xmas , after the time iv had I just can't force myself to do it any sooner.
Funny part is , it only makes the bearing noise when the car gets up to temperature? Any clue why ?
Wondering if it's just the pilot bearing that's bad after the box was hung on it by the shaft and starts clobbering about when it's hot ?
Because it's a strange one alright.

Input bearing chatters in neutral I had to do my bearings a while ago as the diff broke and the transmission place I left it to never cleaned the box properly and all the lovely chunks of diff went everywhere and the oil galleries were nicely blocked aswell so the bearings got very thirsty and dry and they started singing fs. If your box is quiet on and off the clutch in neutral I'd just change the pilot bearing I changed mine while I had the box out as it was only a few quid but it was a bit rough compared to the new one so was a good idea to change it

[QUOTE="ruprecht, post:
You know what you hit a point there ,
Because I never cleaned out the oil holes on the main shaft or counter shaft ,
And I'd say they ARE blocked and starving the bearings
That's why I only hear that noise when the engine is hot ,
They are probably sitting in oil when engine is off and over the 10 or so minutes they dry up when engine is running?

I remember you saying that about your gearbox before
Did you go back to the shop that done your box for a follow up fix ? Probably not worth it anyways if they didn't do the most important job in the first place.

No took it on the chin and went else where cost me price of the bearings and £100 and tell you what it was a first class job

[QUOTE="ruprecht,
Nice ! Did he have to re shim ?
And did he just take the bearings off the diff and replace the two with original shim ?
Last question, I see in the picture did he replace any needle bearings on the shaft , the ones that split in half and set under / behind gears?
Smashing job very clean too .

I'm not sure I just bought full bearing kit and handed him it and the box not sure what bearings were in the kit
