Oil pressure sensor location for gauges

What I usually do is drill the sump plug out and tap it, means you dont have to touch the sump.

i use a magnetic plug and lets say i don't want to drill my sump for the oil temp sensor is there any other way to fit it ?

Have a suitably sized bung welded into your oem sump, whilst the sump is off have some baffle plates welded in also

OR

Buy a moroso baffled sump, has a port already there for fitting an oil temp sensor

Don't mount the pressure guage on the head where you have shown it, as that port is after the vtec solenoid and will only read pressure when vtec is engaged (only gets pressure to lock the vtec pins)

Next oil change before the car goes back on the road i'm looking to redo where my gauges take feeds from as i would like to remove the sandwich plate to maximise oil flow and remove the slight restriction the plate causes

surely the effect of the plate would be close to negligable? will you remove the OE heat exchanger too?

Im going to do a kit in the new year with the hose and associated fitting as its something I get asked about often, will probably be around £30-35 for the kit

I like the sound of this too.

just leaving it now, too much hassle!

removing oem heat exchanger is daft unless running an external oil cooler

can i use the oem oil pressure hole position for measuring oil themp from there instead of oil pressure ?

No ,dont put the temp. sensor there :nono: , Its the ultimate best place for pressure reading. You want the temp. sensor reading from the sump.

Get the sump drilled and a suitable nut welded/brazed onto the side than screw in the sensor . Preferably 2-3cm from full oil capacity level,. and you might aswell bang some baffled plates in there too :nice:

mate i can't drill a hole on my sump right now maybe later i'll give it a try among with baffled plates as you said
i know it wont be 100% accurate but i have the gauge and i want to fit it!!
anyone had used this port for measuring oil temp ?

or should i use the oil pressure port ?

Standard thread size on the B-series is 1/8 BSPT for the standard oil pressure switch.

Ill order in some T-pieces :) The kit will consist of ;

-1/8npt adapter to screw into the block
-Hose to screw onto adapter and into T-piece
-Brass T-piece with 1/8npt outlets for the pressure switch and gauge sensor. I could possibly have distribution blocks with more outlets mate instead of the t-piece, for people who want an oil feed for a turbo perhaps.

Stephen, personally I would like my pressure switch as close to the pump as possible for a consistent and fairly accurate reading, the head is furthest away from the pump, and also, would register a pressure drop when vtec activates.

it's 1/8 bspt or 1/8 npt ???

i'm pretty sure the port you have shown does not get a good oil flow unless in vtec as it connects directly to the vtec solenoid and nothing else.
standard oil pressure mounting point is not the best as it is before the filter so will not show a drop in pressure if the filter becomes clogged up, ideally you want to measure the pressure after the filter. also just to add the standard oil pressure warning light is rubbish as it's preset pressure is so low that by time it warns you of low oil pressure your engine is probably already fecked.

i'm gunna be annoying and bump this....
is it okay to run these remotely, like the way endyn reccomend? any issues with the strength of feed etc
I need a 4 way like so -

and I really dont think its gunna stand for long with 3 things hanging off of it, mounting it somewhere would be pretty handy.

Hay people names Reggy I'm won't to no IV got a b18c that i swap out off a DC2 into a DB8 iv have spark and gas pressure and air flow cranking sounds like it wonts to kick over but won't start any help would be great thanks

Probably not the right part of the forum for this question.
when you say gas pressure, can you hear the fuel pump prime?
Have you checked its firing in the correct order?
