Official EK4 - EK9 Comparison

Little bit of a bump here for anyone watching.

Just reading up on what the differences are between the ek4 and ek9 with regards weight. I've read up that an ek9 racebase is 1050kg and that a stock ek9 is 1090kg. I've then read, which has also been claimed on here, that the ek4 weighs a whopping 1260kg's!!!!!

Personally i don't believe these stats. Bar a sunroof and sound deadening what exactly are the differences between the two? I've spent a week ripping everything out my ek4 to turn it into a track car. Its got nothing left to it but we reckon I've only stripped 100-150 kg's out of it maximum. Does this mean it weighs the same as a stock ek9? Surely this can't be right??

Anyone?

It's a good point fella - I've always wondered this myself. Sadly I've only owned EK4's and not an EK9 but can confirm the EK9 I went in did feel more nimble, but again that was probably due to the other changes. The 1260kg EK4 you've read about would have been with leather, sunroof, air con and possibly other extra's.

Personally I don't think there is a huge difference in weight between an EK4 and EK9 of similar spec. In fact the EK9 Recaro's and other extra's will only add to the weight, however it balances it out by stripping weight with reduced sound deadening and thinner glass.

Guys I need your help. Ek9 stock owners would like to help me by telling me the ground clearance of an ek9 from specific sides of the car as you see in the attached photo. I have searched everywhere and there seems to be a lack of this info on the net. So ek9 owners are kindly requested to measure these things so as to have some wiki knowledge, which will contribute positively in every aspect.
Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks a lot mate! Very useful info especially the rest of the pages of the fact book and the comparison in the suspension between the ek9 and dc2. It is interesting to see that the dc2 has stiffer rear shocks comparing to ek9 which might be because of the 1mm difference in the rear swaybars.

Hello everyone, first of all that was an amazing and extremely helpful post, but I need some more information. I ve been doing some research lately but I really need some help. I m opting to buy an Ek9 Type R, but buy the time I get my driving license there might not be any for sale. That s because there are only two type Rs in the entire Greece. If I do not manage to find one, would the VTI be a good choice, or is there anything better than the VTI? Also bare in mind that I don't plan on swapping the engine for at least five years, but I will be installing braces and such if needed. Thanks a lot to everyone :)

EK4 is 1090 kgs with AC. As shown in the paper of the car and mesures by myself at the waste disposal center

The EK9 has also got thicker metal in the body shown by the numbers in this picture

It shows metal gauge thickness in millimeters and the smaller number is the ek4 ( and all other models below ) and the bigger number is the ek9

And i think this is all the bracing points...

The pictures were taken from this video and its a good one to watch, he starts showing this info at about 16 minutes

Return of a JDM legend

And this video compares front subframes with a normal civic and a ek9...
