I haven't had much to do on the Civic for the last few weeks, so as usual started to get itchy fingers... I'd managed to hold off working on one of my own projects for about three weeks - didn't take long to crack

Always fancied building an off road buggy and with a rack full of tube and probably enough donor parts lying about in the workshop, thought why the hell not?! So, here's progress so far - had about 10 hours on it in between jobs over the last week and it's just about at the point now where it's photo-worthy at least. It really puts into perspective how easy this is without having to work around a bodyshell as I usually am with the rollcages!

The main outline of the frame is just about there now, so need to start mounting up the engine and working out how I'll mount suspension/steering components.

Anyway, here's some pictures - will post some more as I go along.

And finally, to put in to perspective how bloody small this thing is.. These are 15" wheels.

This like the spare thing you had last time I was up?
Needs a bike engine though....

Yeah that's it. Brand new chassis though! I don't think I'll go too silly on the engine front. Thinking a big single cylinder should do the job nicely.

Awesome......cant wait to see this come alive!
You mentioned big single....so what cc are you thinking? You got an engine/motorcycle in mind?

Nice one, and with your fabrication skills this should turn out very well

I made something very similar in Tech for my HND mechanical engineering project and used a 4-stroke pit bike engine to power it... Wasn't exactly fast but it was a cheap engine and a lot of fun off road

Well electric start is a must, so points towards an enduro type bike. Something like a DRZ400 is a strong contender right now. A KTM 690 would be great, but bloody expensive!

Cr500 motor or the 400 motor from a banshee. Love a screaming 2 stroke.

Love the smell of two stroke in the morning! :naughty:

If it's got to be electric start then a crf 450x engine would be a good contender, Ktm rfs 400/450/525 engines are very good as well.

You can also get electric start Ktm 2strokes (250,300)

This is going to be so cool!

Seat turned up, so will make a start fitting that. Also decided to move the engine slightly for better sprocket positioning, so taken a slight backwards step there!
