Hi all,

I will be putting a full 5 stud swap from an EK9 on to my Jordan and just wondered what those who track their '9s make of the standard 282 & 262 set up under hard use?

From what I've read plenty of you are impressed with them with only an uprated set of pads. Something like some DS2500s.

I track my car so if there is anything worth upgrading while I do the swap I will certainly be interested. I'd be rebuilding the calipers before I put them on and was planning on a set of braided lines, Hel or the likes.

If anyone has any valuable input please do share :))

:thanks:

Good pads with 282s and rbf600 is plenty for most track users and never let me down

Their very good , make sure you use a 1'' master cylinder if you can .

Regards everything else , pads Id go for the CL rc5+ all round , they are without doubt best pad for performance / cost / availability / noise / dust.

Takes a lot to make them fade , while the ds2500 fades easy and gives bad pad transfer on the discs.

Discs , Honda or heat treated aftermarket plain for the front and plain whatever on the rear suffices.

The braided lines Id tend to stay away from , some shocking stories from the HEL ones ( Known manufacturing faults ) , unless you buy a good set of Russel lines from the US.

Fluid , the AP Racing formula 5.1 is the best bang for buck and is mega cheap compared to the Motul rip off

All of that is my own opinion , from personal use on/off track

Grab an EK9 prop valve if you can, just to make sure it's all balanced properly. :nice:

Thanks :) I'll look into some pads then.

Thanks for the detailed reply, I will be using a 1" MC, basically I'll be using everything that the EK9 uses.

I'll look into those pads :) There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews on the DS2500s, my Dad loves and really rates them, while others can't stand them. I suppose it all boils down to how hard they are used and personal opinion.

Discs, I've heard a lot of good things about the Brembo Max discs, has anyone here used them? If not I'll just go for genuine Honda.

Hadn't heard anything of the brake lines, although I hadn't really looked into them yet. I'll have a nosey about and see what's what.

I'll also look into that fluid :)
Thanks for all of the help, you've given me a lot to think about :nice:

5.1 fluid is the way to go.

That's the plan :)

Really, I didn't realise it was necessary on an EK4, as it's already discs on the rear, but I'll certainly look into it. What ratio (if that's right??) is the EK9 valve?

RBF600, just bleed them more often.

Going to look into a few different fluids and see what takes my fancy :nice:

Again, thanks for all of the replies, I am confident that the brakes will be more than up to some track abuse :) Anyone got any pointers on the best place for OEM brake rebuild kits? Was thinking of trying JapServiceParts.

Thanks again.

Ah I thought you were coming from drums for some reason.

EK4 valve is probably OK.

Ahh, no, if I were coming from drums I'd understand. I'll still have a search and see if it's worth upgrading it though :)

Thanks.

how about stainless steel brake lines ? :naughty:

ATE is also good for fluids, they have blue and gold colors to better see if you have fully bleed the lines--neat!

I use superblue aswell. Decent stuff and not mega money

The ATE fluids were also something I was seriously considering. I know they say old fluid is far darker than new fluid, so bleeding through is easy to spot the clean fluid. But I've always found it takes me a good while to be convinced that the fluid is as clean as it's going to be.

So coloured fluid would be a good help :D
