Hi guys quick one i have a 97 ej9 auto, what type of obd2 port does it have?

And also am i able to get a bluetooth obd2 port connector so i can bluetooth gauges to a tablet? Or does the ECU need to be unlocked to be able to do this?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

1997 Civic is definitely OBD2A. I know that if your car is USDM, it will have an OBD port for you to plug a bluetooth OBD tool in for your tablet. OBD2A and OBD2B does not matter because they both have the exact same OBD port design for tool plugin.

Are you USDM or EDM? Does it have a OBD port underneath the steering wheel? If it has an OBD port under there, then bluetooth tool will work.

EDM UK. Pretty sure we don't have that port underneath? not that I've noticed anyway

On a pre facelift EK9 there is a blue 3 pin plug next to the ecu beside the 2 pin service connector often in a
a green rubber protector that Honda would use to read codes. etc.

There's no 16pin obd2 port on these EKs, I believe they are still ODB2, you will need to buy a 3pin to16pin OBD2 female adaptor, can get online for £10or less, with that you will be able to to use OBD2 diagnostic code reader / bluetooth obd2 kits.

The 3pin and 2 pin ports should be located by your ECU, 2 plugs both are blue. quite easy to find. hope this helps

Exactly this location is where it is.

I use this 3 pin plug all the time as I have an app connecting via Bluetooth that measures the ecu, parameters and all sensors. it datalogs / records everything so I can play it back on my phone. Great for reading error codes and reseting them, found faulty earths and great for setting idle and it really works, every time.

I assume this won't work with the EK9?

Well its on my EK9 and works 100% with it. I have a pre facelift OBD2a ecu.

Good, it really is a brilliant tool that actually works really well. Not forgetting the digital dash it gives you which is pretty impressive
too, if you want to use it.
