Hi, just joined! My partner and I both have ej9’s mine I’ve converted to a facelift and my girlfriends I’m about to put a new front end on as it’s had a knock on the drivers side and all the lights and panels are out of line, I’ve got a donor car for all the bits and pieces I need and I have done this before with a friend so have a bit of insight .

I used to have a EK3 that I converted to a B18c4, Big Gay Wing and all that! I really regret getting rid of it but I replaced it with an immaculate EK9, I kept my 9 for 6 months or so, I loved it just i was to scared to modify it in anyway cause I didn’t want to de-value it.

I now have an EJ9 tornado that was in pieces when I bought it but it’s a very solid shell, I’d say it’s the most rust free civic I’ve had, the arches are mint so I bought a completely standard (rusty, mot failure) EJ9 and swapped the engine into my tornado, as I said at the start of my post I’ve also fitted a facelift front end to mine, I mot’d it last week and it passed, just got a few little advisories to sort out.

My partner has always been in to civics but never owned one before, someone local was selling a Supersonic blue EJ9 and she loved it! Again as I said at the start it’s had a knock on the drivers side and the front end is fairly bent but I’ve started taking it off and then I’ll fit the front end from the donor car I have.

Cheers, Dan

I got the front end off my girlfriends EJ9 last night, drilled all the spot-welds out and then just prized it off to break the joints, the drivers side chassis leg is damaged, it’s been crushed back flat from the accident (see pic) but I can cut it off my donor car and weld it on this one, I will have to take a bit more care in removing the front end from the donor car though as I don’t want to bend it . I’ll update this post when I’ve done more, I don’t know if anyone is actually following this or even read it but ‍♂

Got the front panel off the donor car today no trouble, well chuffed! Now I just need to sort the drivers side chassis leg out (shouldn’t be hard) and then to bolt the front panel on the car and get all the lights, bumper etc... lining up and then I can spot weld it back and paint it.

Pictures and progress to follow.

I repaired the front chassis leg, i managed to hammer it flat and get it looking as much like the passenger side as I could but it’s not 100%, the bit that was squashed flat was also spot welded in so I was able to remove it and replace it with the one off the donor car! I’ve now got the front panel bolted on and I’ve put the bonnet, wings & headlights in to check the fitment before I spot weld the panel in place...all seems good! The bonnet seems to sit slightly lower than the wing on the drivers side but I’m sure I can sort that out, just to fit a bumper over the weekend and make sure everything’s fitting well and all the gaps are good .
