Negative aspects of a k swap

On the road your k-swap wont handle any different to a b-series, you wont notice with the right suspension and tyres. Saying they handle "terrible" is a bit misleading. My own dc2 was standard when i first got it, after the k-swap i didint notice any difference to the b18 on the roads, familiar corners etc, if anything the front end was a lot tighter (hassports) and the Dc5 lsd is excellent.

There you go, someone who has had both and probably more DC2's than most so can compare

First time I have heard anyone with such a negative view on K swaps.

Care to explain why they loose their handling. Weight of the engines are very similar. "Can't corner" "No LSD" "oil issues" "awfull handling" Those are some quite bold statements lol.
See plenty of K swaped cars on track competing they don't seem to have a problem getting round corners at all?? LSD is easily fitted, not exactly a major cost in comparison to the swap to start with. Weather the engine is in a swap car or car out of the factory how would the oil issues be any different its still the same engine, you don't really see that many K20's with problems?.

The spoon K20 EK9 that left all those other race tuned Type R's behind, running over 1 seconds a lap faster than the mojority of everyone else round Suzuka must have been running on fairy dust.

Bold/ blunt, I'm no baller and your right the lsd is a small cost in comparison to the swap. I think any performance is hindered by no LSD.
If the handling is good/great even ok, what's with builds that have had subframes modified? And heavier spring rates being used on the front.
To accommodate the correct position geometry for the swap?
Id be in the frame of mind a swap is a swap 000's done and yet the people who primarily make the mounts for the swap that most use didnt just update the kit they have made a new product.

Never had oil issues with any k- series myself, (bar replacing a cracked sump) but I've heard first hand 3 that have spun bearings, in swapped cars but never original, probbably an over statement saying that but the swaps would tend to be aggressively driven.

They are a great engine, but I'm biased to the b-series, value for money and grin factor hands down better ( we won't go into torque)
battles at Suzuka 1 second quicker? if it was me driving it would be 10min later haha :secret: Ive been there and back, didn't see one k-swap. Big event Honda track day at ebisu only k series wer few DC5's and a uk ep3 ffs? All b-series where they belong :D :drive:

Edited your post there to keep you out of trouble! Your entitled to your opinion but let's not get into personal insults. Your not the first to say k swap older gen Honda's handle like crap but I'm yet to experience this, perhaps with the earlier EK K swaps that used the EKK1 mounts the position of engine did hang a little far forward, I could see how this would effect handling somewhat but nowadays nearly everyone doing a K swap into EK chassis fit a DC2 subframe so EKK2 mounts can be used which position the engine in a much better position...

steven had a kswap ek9
he was racing his car
he can give a review on that ''handling'' thing...

Properly setup, zero difference in handling for me :nice:

And me, that is nonsense.

I have done 3 K swaps now, 2 DC2s and a CRX, always with a few friends until my currect DC2 which is all me :D

The only negatives I have noticed are the time taken to get things to a point that you're happy with if you are fussy, and the vibes from the engine mounts, mine are 62A and still too vibey for me, anyone got any suggestions?

With the first point what I mean is the time needed to find things like a DC5 power steering line, shifter box/cables, decent driveshafts etc assuming you don't have the money to buy everything new (I certainly don't!)

You have a Kswap Yellow DC2 ???? :O ULTIMATE!

I am in the middle of a swap at the moment and its the small and niggly things that frustrate me also. Trying to get the power steering lines and fittings set up is a ballache.

One other thing I can see is that generally Kswaps take longer to carry out and complete to a standard the user is happy with in comparison to a Bseires swap of any sort.
