Right ive worked out that by the summer I could save up about 4k. Im just wondering for 4k could I pick up a decent ek9? I'll be sticking with my ek4 for another 6 months but trying to plan ahead. I could maybe at a push get 5k but thats 6 months of doing **** all other than working. Just wondering on peoples opinions, was maybe thinking dc2 but being 21 think insurance is a bit more of a bitch than an ek9

When I was looking, typically 5k onwards would get you an OK one with some work to be done, mint/very good examples are around 6k+

You maybe lucky to see one for 4k that needs TLC, but never say never.

I find the EK9 insurance more expensive than the DC2 by the way (i've had both)

I wouldn't say you could get a mint one for £6k they have lost there value slightly you could find a nice example for about £5k-£5.5k and one that needs a lil work from £4k

So prob best idea is to wait a bit longer and save up more? Ideally I want a standard ek9 dont mind couple of mods but rather standard. What would people recommend, dc2 or ek9?

If it was me - I'd get a DC2 (but then I've already owned a EK9). The DC2's just seem to be better value for money at the moment and you'll have far more choice.

X2 with championship White dc2 are well worth what is asked for them!!

As above Ireland have a few nice examples for a lot cheaper than over here!

Do people know which is more to insure? will do a check though i know prices will be different when it comes to the time of getting one.

As I said above, the DC2 is cheaper to insure (certainly for me) by about £150, you need to call up to quote as it obviously depends on many factors.

Yes you have more choices when it comes to a DC2 as well, EK9 is more rare, there are only approx 160ish registered on here, that still exist in the UK.

Depends on what you are after and what mint means to you. Certainly when I was looking mint one's (someone had cleaned inside and out with toothbrush and no rust) with light mods were around that mark. Maybe drop a bit this year (hope not too much)?

Cars in general are not holding value just now, Mines immaculate and has been in the UK 2 years, Plenty of cash spent on it with top parts and im asking £4900 for mine, You could pick a tidy example up for 4500-5000 if you hunt around and wait for the right one

I dont mind getting a car that needs some TLC as i do see it as a hobby :) obviously dont want anything that needs serious work doing to it. Yeah car prices are dropping so im hoping they drop slightly more (sorry for people trying to sell) I guess my best shout is to wait till I got some money saved, get quotes on both, then test drive both to see what I think. Im leaning towards ek9, but ive had a EJ9 and EK4 so thinking maybe be good to get a teg? Its gonna be one of them situations which ever one I buy, i'll what the other lol

ej9 and a ek4 do not even compare to what a ek9 is, I know as i had a jordan before my 9 :)

Tegs are really good value for money I just prefer the looks of the civic.
I was patient and got mine for a very good price in what I would call mint condition and that was a few years ago.
