SSB EK4 kanjo inspired

Few little bits done since I have nothing else to do, in a nutshell I,

- stripped the dash some more by removing vents for de misting window.

- Removed heater controls (but left buttons for OEM look)

- Removed Abs module & pulled associated abs wires out ready to cut them from the loom

- Fitted pre facelift EK4 cluster with correct mileage

- and tucked as much wiring as Possible inside to neaten it up

And here's what pictures I got :nice:

Have some parts coming like battery, oil, coolant etc. Everything to get it finished basically. Am hoping to just cut the ABS wires out of the loom but will do a bit more research and wait until I have power to the car before chopping off wires :nerv:

Don't need to cut any wires, just unplug them

Ek9 cluster will finish the dash of nicely

Yeah will try to just unplug them all bro but won't ever have ABS again anyway

It would but the all red EK4 cluster fits in perfect cause I'll have red seats and maybe red cage eventually :))

So, got the old Crank pulley off and put on a new N1 Pulley with a shorter 738 Gates belt.

Like a glove :naughty:
The bolt for the crank pulley really needs changing, looks rough as hell now lol

Have now got an intake on, needed something temporary so bought a standard EK4 manifold & TB and went about cleaning it plus putting my DC2 injectors on.

Also put a new gasket on while I was at it, got most hoses and plugs put on (where I think they go anyway lol).

Made a fair bit of progress since the last post, mainly brake related :naughty:

Fuel line and inline filter setup is ready to go on, keeping it off until I've made new brake lines for Master cylinder and prop valve.

Decided to change the brake setup, so I now have DC2 (98 spec) 282mm calipers, new 282mm discs and HEL braided lines to replace front flexi's.
The rear is now a full MGZR 260mm setup, discs, calipers etc. all MGZR.

Have the rear setup on, although a carrier bolt sheared so I'm on the lookout for a new one before the car goes anywhere!

Aside from shearing the carrier bolt I'm waiting for a 1" DC2 master cylinder and will pull the ABS pump out When that arrived and make new lines then fit everything and bleed the system with some fresh Motul RBF 600 brake fluid.

Made my first flare on the brake line, will have to put the old Master Cylinder back in to finish off the lines since my 1" DC2 MC isn't here yet...

So have a teaser

ABS REMOVAL!

Had a couple days free and some good weather so made the most of it.

Finished off removing the ABS by making the hard lines, fitted 1" MC & Servo and installed the new MGZR discs and DC2 calipers.

This isn't a tutorial but for people insterested in what's needed;
- 3/16 copper brake pipe
- 8 10mm brake fittings (10x1)
- NON ABS prop valve
- Double flare tool
- Pipe bender (or socket in a vice! Lol)

First off, I drained the old fluid then removed ABS pump and lines, plus the EK4 MC.

Then started meticulously double flaring, measuring and bending the copper hard lines to get it as tidy as I possibly could.

All the bends were done using not a pipe bender but a socket clamped in a vice! (Still pretty damn good in my opinion)

Performance aside, the bay is now looking a lot less cluttered without the ABS pump and a dozen hard lines acattered about...

And a shot of the calipers on without any pads since I need to space the disc out 1mm I think?

That is pretty much ABS removed. I still need to bleed the system and check for leaks to make it official, so let's hope there isn't any...

C&C welcome

Cheers for the kind words guys :))

So today I managed to both make some progress and have a small setback at the same time...

Got the car wired up, changed a couple bad fuses and put the battery in all works well, lights, cluster, etc. Bad news is I have a fuel leak!
It seems to be just at the AN-6 banjo bolt on the fuel rail (probably because I ordered a 14.5mm banjo bolt and needed 12/12.5mm ideally therefore it doesn't sit on the washers correctly)

Anyway larger washers coming to try fix the issue if not will need a smaller banjo bolt.

Update on yesterday's fuel leak.

Sorted thanks to the new washers, hopefully the smell of fuel goes away meaning she's leak free for good.

Final push to get it going now, just brakes to bleed and the lines to test plus tightening the crank pulley bolt.

Wow. You've done a lot to the car since we last spoke Ben! Nice work you're doing buddy! Wouldn't mind being at a track day when this car is there ;) top work!

Thanks man, it's pretty much ready just need to bleed the brakes still and fit a few bits like IAT sensor and horn button then should pass MOT!

I'll be going to shows and track days soon so you'll have to let me know what ones you go to bud :))

Been a while people!

Just enjoying the SSB since it passed the MOT last week.
Drives pretty much faultless apart from a slightly sticky throttle (can live with it for now since I should soon be on ITB's)

Brakes feel amazing for basically a stock 282/262 setup!

I have installed an oil catch can kind of.. it's on but only came supplied with 1 hose that's barely long enough and doesn't seal properly so I've order some quality braided hose instead (pics to come once I'm happy with it)

Toying with the idea of going a little lower too and in need of some bucket seats at some point but will all come in due time :))

Also does anyone know why the service check connector (SCC) would have no voltage?
CEL is on constantly (meaning code zero?) possibly a fault in the wiring? Yet car starts first turn of the key, grounds are solid and drives spot on all electrics work other than the connector to pull fault codes?

just read this whole thread, such a shame about that first civic after all the work that went into saving it, but your new build is looking sweet! SSB is such a good colour in person, i don't think pictures ever do the colour justice
