My EK9.... take 2

Looking good there Dan, what made you go for the 4.7 diff ?

Hey Moray
I’d had a original S80 4.7FD box in my first EK9 and what a difference it made so it was high on my list when I got this car.
took a while for a fresh one to come up so when it did I jumped at it. This box has the added bonus of the EK9 S4C forth and fifth gear so it’s actually and upgrade on a standard S80

I think out of everything that’s changed on my car this mod has made the most difference

I have heard that before about gearbox ratios. What sort of revs you doing at 70 in 5th.

I did the same put teg fd with teg 1st/3rd i think it was, along with mfactory lightened flywheel did make a lot of difference... Good mod without making the ratios too extreme for road/track use

Thanks, that would be great.
4350rpm @70mph in 5th gear... this is with 205/50/16 tyres

That’s exactly my thoughts mate, I think a 4.9FD or/and a close ratio kit would be slight overkill for a street driven motor

Yeah I think I also had an ac stage 1 clutch but can't find my build thread to confirm it... Was a long time ago now

We update
Sold the Ce28‘a so back on standard rims for now, even though I loved the Volks the car still looks ace on the OEM‘s in my opinion

also had the pleasure of helping my friend detail another EK9 today, pre facelift, totally standard.
The owner of the car is the daughter of a member from here and used to be his car @McJazz

Quick update
Been busy today, gave the car a good clean, sealed up my roof gutters as the seam sealer was starting to fail, also sealed around the rear hatch area, round the hinges and at the end of the roof gutters.
fitted new roof gutter weather strips, new side repeaters and I put my OEM spoiler and freshly painted baseplate back on

Cleaned the areas up with some APC and panel wipe, let it dry thoroughly, blew it out incase any dust settled then used white SikaFlex 527AT to fill in the hairline cracks.
I did buy some sealant tools but found my finger worked better at smoothing it out.

Was gonna touch it in with some championship white but it blends pretty well as it stands

Good to know I have never heard of white SilaFlex 527AT but after reading post and looking I could use some.

Did you cut the existing mastic out or where the crack was Dan.

Thanks.

no, the original seam sealer had just started to crack, it wasn’t bad at all, so after giving the area a good degrease and clean with the APC and panel wipe I just laid some on top. I done a bit research and chose to go with the SikaFlex as it bonds to paint, metal and plastic. It stays flexible, ages well and was easy to use.

I was going to give all the joins a we rub down with a bit wet and dry but after the cleaning stage they all looked pretty good so I just missed this step out

Bought some Sikaflex 527AT. Nearest supplier only had grey, pretty easy to work with and smooth out. Left overnight and brushed on some white paint. Hopefully no more leaks.
Done this job before on few hondas and always used tiger seal, this stuff is more elastic much better suited to the job.
Thanks for heads up Dan

Nice one Irf

how did the paint lay on top of it?

The white Sika is slightly whiter than the oem finish, I was going to get some champ white to touch it in, but with it drying out pretty flexible I was unsure on how the paint would sit on top
