My '98 Spec Mugen Equipped DC2

Its none of them above, its just a model without abs or airbags..they were options you had when purchasing these cars new :nice:

They weren't options .. Only way of having no ABS / SRS on a 98/99 Dc2 is for it to be a motorsports/n1/racebase model. I've a catalogue in front of me.

Absolutely stunning! The wheels and spoiler are soo sweet. I bet the suspension is great too.

Car looks Amazing Nice find!
Starting to like DC2's more and more

then they'd have no power mirrors or windows (same as racebase ek9).. put up pics of the catalogue there where it says it..

my last 98 dc2 had no abs or airbags, my current one has abs but no airbags..there options from factory!

Oh baby! She's here, on the road and I love it! Such a tight driving car and the mugen suspension works very well, it's not got any rattles or shakes, feels solid. Felt a bit sluggish on the first drive to be honest but some fresh Vpower and some high cam lobe action. Pulls very hard now.

Needs a new thermostat, runs a bit too cold though.

Can't believe an ITR could feel as refined as this from previous experience, also nice everything works, even the electric the aerial lol.

Got it fully undersealed, arch liners off etc...

This thing is awesome mate, lucky lad lol

Looks mint condition, lovely spec! She looks like a keeper for very long while!

Thanks for the kind words guys appreciate it, keeps the motivation going!

So I have been enjoying the ITR in Newcastle for a few weeks, but since I don't have a garage etc... over here I decided I would take it back to Ireland, try it round the track to get a feel for it and leave it in garage to get some parts gathered up (mainly service) and money gathered up as I'm heading to the Nurburgring with it in May. So I'm using my EK3 for the daily grind, I'm glad as the weather isn't good at this time!

The first thing I did when I got home was get some new discs on it as they were on their last legs and also replace the thermostat with an OEM Honda item as the temp gauge barely ever moved.

Runs at a nice temp now.

I was really enjoying the ITR and love the rawness of it and decided to throw on a J's racing ETD I bought, all was going well when I installed and took it for a drive and the car literally sounded like the bottom was rattling I had changed the leads too which made me think have I put them on in the wrong firing order?? I couldn't get to the problem and I have no realized it is the ETD causing the rattle as I used to think they were fluid filled but they have just a nylon bushing inside so there pretty solid. I was relieved to find out this was the problem to say the least, had an echo of a 1.2 corsa C up the rev range!

I also bought another set of spoon ht leads since having them on my previous B16A.

The quality and fitment of the J's damper is amazing, every accessory you would like with it is there like nice a nice replacement allen screw for the earth strap.

Bought some new 10mm bolts for the headlights etc... as a couple were starting to show their age.

Cleaning, drying and waxing the arches before put away!

Flakey rocker cover really annoys me! lol

So my next venture was the track, and I was very impressed with out it went for being virtually stock!

I was running about 2-2.5 seconds quicker than my previous SiR, The B18 definitely pulls very well, the Mugen suspension work a treat when I turned the damping up aswell and handled the 888's well too, whilst retaining and OEM like feel. Was genuinely surprised as coilovers were on my list for it, but I'll keep the Mugen kit in for the ring aswell as I reckon it would be good for it being so compliant.

I had bought the Mugen 2way too but after being on track and driving the car for a while, I have a suspicion there is an aftermarket diff in it and the gearbox has been split at one too. The car turns in very well, I'm not used to it yet, I turn in sometimes and have to turn back out to get round the corner.

The brakes are very good and I love having no ABS, the rear wheel lock up a bit under heavy braking aiming the car nicely into the corner.

Had it on the weigh bridge and it 1100kg's, bit heaver than I'd like but my plan is to keep this car a comfy place to be on the roads but still fun on track.

I have found out the car was owned by Kpowers in Japan, A tuning shop famous for setting up and tuning hill climb cars, it was actually the owners personal car/daily, found lots of pictures of it online, will post them up at a later date, it looks to have been serviced/looked after :nice:.

I am enjoying the ITR!!

nice updates, im always too lazy to take pictures when im doing anything on the car

cant wait to see what else you do with it!

when in may are you going? my nine should be done by then as well, will probably be down there a few times in april also

I woldnt run an ETD on a DC2. due to the way its mounted it puts alot of stress on the strut tower and can cause it to split appart!

^^ agreed, things are pretty useless anyway

just get a hasport rear mount, will work wonders!

Thanks guys, Think I'm going to remove the ETD, I think my car is a bit "Soft" for it.

Pics of it in Japan 8) :

Traced the owners as the previous owners name was on the import docs "Kpowers", reminds me of Kenny Powers

Also picked up a few service parts for her, not long click past the 60k mile belt change etc... but I want to keep the thing right:

• Jap service parts Gearbox mount
• Jap service front lower right torque mount
• Jap service front lower left torque mount
• OEM Honda rear engine mount
• M’s steel magnetic sump plug
• M’s steel magnetic transmission plug
• OEM Honda timing belt kit
• Gates alternator belt
• Fuel filter
• Motul 5w40 X-cess + Hamp filter
• Motul RBF
• Fuchs Sintofluid MTF

After trying various gear oil and never being completely happy opie recommended the sintofluid, known to work well at lower and higher temps which is exactly what I'm after, dad's car broke the alternator belt so thought I'd get one for the ring trip in May, anyone going to the greenhell days??

Nothing particularly exciting above, but there more important that shiny parts right now, also anyone tried CL RC5+/RC6, Just thinking ahead for the ring.
