So went to do some Xmas shopping, left my car in their car park as I'd just ate there and couldn't be bothered moving it. All was good....

Got a letter early this week saying I've been fined £50 for parking there for too long. They got pics and times too. Any ideas what I should do!

They are just a private firm so should I pay or ignore all letters from them?

Wait for the second letter and then decide, see if they will actually follow through or at least threaten to follow through with the law. Were there signs saying about the parking limits?

noooo 100% just ignore it, they're a private firm and cannot fine you for no reason. A friend of mine got exactly the same, except, he left through the entrance (dumbass I know), came back a few hours later, parked in same spot for 15 mins and got fined like yourself. His brother luckily worked at the McD's and spoke to the manager, to which even he said just ignore it and they'll eventually stop sending letters :)

yea think it will cost them more in the longrun chasing it up.

local guy had same problem with a venue as he took up two parking spaces in a near empty carpark! was advised not to reply by many people and approx 2 years later he has heard nothing back from the private company.

goodluck :nice:

If its a private firm then ignore it, there is a thread here in the forum that goes through this matter as it is very good at discussing as why it should be ignored.

Thanks dudes. Exactly what I thought. Chancers lol

Worst thing is the food was crapper than normal....

Next time you're in the neighbourhood check if there are any signs telling you there is a parking time limit. If there is not, you can refer to that if they send you a second letter. Maybe even take pictures to prove there aren't any signs at the time you were there

I wouldn't bother if its a private firm mate, they are probably just trying their luck!

**** the letter in the bin and if they come again say you never got it

More than likely they have that, almost every car park has it now, but there's very little they can do about it.

Exactly, unless they sent it recorded delivery and you signed it on receipt they can prove bugger all...

On a funny side, we have student halls opposite my work and students sometimes tend to park in our car park, despite all the signs. If it is just for a couple of hours it's ok, nobody can tell anyway, but there was one particular car that was parked there all the time. So we left 3 or 4 very polite notes saying the car park is for our customers only, but the car kept coming back. And then I was going on holiday for a week, so I parked my car in a way that he could not get out, gave my car keys to my boss and got on a plane to Spain. 2 days later my boss texted me - the chap with the Fiesta came in and asked if we could move the car so he can get out. My boss said yes, providing that you stay out for good, which he did! I bet it was not very nice walking in the shop after ignoring all previous notices :D

Even local authorities and councils are registered as private corporations. They are all the same. Stealth taxes.

I got clamped In halfords carpark for parking with my wheel a inch over the white line. It's all just one big con.
