i am goin to be getting a ek9 in a couple of months and was wondering what would be a good build to get 300-350 whp turboed and also a daily driver..i would like to keep it around $5000 and if not possible then is there a better way to do it with tht budget? and would there be a better engine to look into besides the b16a? thx

This question keeps popping up! Blinx or ek9turbo are probably the best people to ask about this to be honest as they have experiance and the cars to know what they're talking about

what you mean your getting an ek9 and boosting b16a? The ek9 has a b16b......

Though I've heard the b16a is a stronger block to boost.....

im sorry i did mean b16b..been talking to a guy about his b16a in his SI for the past couple days lol.

and the most thing im wonderin is what the total should be all together including stuff i need to upgrade to handle the power.

Quite alot mate, there are always things that pop up unexpected that you need to get. Also it depends if you are going to replace every seal etc. and is probably best to if you are after a reliable motor.

I know ek9turbo (Will) is good to get in touch with as he has done nearly 40k in his. Or look about the site by the search function :)

laskey benson racing do a really good rebuilt they will advise on options etcr.

Not sure how far 5000 dollars will get you but in uk it would get you a decent turbo, manifold and fueling parts such as a piggy back ecu fuel rail and injectors,

But we can't really tell you how much to spend, like alcarp said just search about see what set up best suits you and gradually build it up there's no point in rushing something like this you don't want to forget anything!

You will need:
-1.8 block rebuilt with forged pistons/rods + the misc stuff (bearings/seals/gaskets/etc)
-the turbo setup
-the fuel setup
-the ems setup
-supporting mods (exhaust, clutch, tires, headstuds, etc...)

It is doable on a 5k budget depending on how much of the work you can do yourself...

for 300whp reliable hp, get the ff for ur b16b:

- T3/T4E Turbo along with charge pipes and exhaust manifold, wastegate, bov, intercooler, etc
- built block (forged pistons; Wiseco, Arias, etc and h-beam rods; Eagle, IB-Spec, etc)
- ARP head studs
- at the very least a tri-puck clutch from a reputable brand
- some sort of ECU hack (Crome, E-Manage, AEM, S300, etc etc.)
- Walbro Pump and 440cc (minimum) injectors

with a good tune you should achieve 300whp in 1 bar boost more or less
