Low engine oil.....Damage?

So yesterday on the way to my missus i noticed vtec felt a little 'noisier' so to put. Thought nothing of it until i got to my missus and i had to move my car, the check engine light came on. I checked the oil straight away and it was barely on the dip stick!

I carry top ups on me but i had around half a litre. I put that in now it's just over min.

I had to drive the car this morning and ive been beating myself up about it all morning. Im usually so so careful with checking oil and never let it get low.

I am going to buy a (MASSIVE RIP OFF) £16 1L of castrol after work today to bring it bac to full and a oil change come payday.

I just want to know if any damage has been done already? :(

Give me the news doc, will she make it?!
 
there is still loads of oil in the sump when the oil does not mark the dipstick
 
Dip stick only shows roughly 1ltr and they take 4 with filter. Most likley be fine i wouldnt worry.
 
Which light came on? Oil pressure light?
How long for?
Should be fine mate
 
It only has a oil pressure light, indicating less than 5psi iirc.

It wasn't the oil pressure light, it was the check engine light :/

I assumed it was to do with oil as when i topped it up with what i had on me it went away.
 
You should be ok, you would probably know about it already if it had done damage.
 
will be fine neil.

Until I swapped my engine the other week. My old one burn so much oil it was very often off the dipstick. Yeh it was a bit tappy and noisy in the end but it ran like that happily for 10,000miles lol.
