Guys and Gals,

Have any of you had the problem of your trunk (boot) leaking? I have changed the trunk weather strip, the seals behing the lights and still water manages to get in. Its coming from in the area of the lights but i cannot figure out why. Do I need to put silicone around them as well?

Please help! Just got my car repainted and I could do without the trunk rusting again.

Just stop the water from sitting there and it wont rust again. Its most likely the vents underneath the lights pal. Take em off, run a beed of silicone and refit them.

Search google and this forum, i have done a how to on the lights and the vents behind the bumper.

Only other thing could be around the petrol filler cap where the metal is sealed it can leak in there too :nice:

Ive had the seam sealer cracked behind the light clusters it continues down behind the bumper. it looked like a rear light leak but water was coming from under the metal work. light out, bumper off, scrape the old sealant out and replace (i used tigerseal), its tight as a ducks arse now!

almost as tight as a scotsman!

Yea i did the vents.... I did the seam which runs at the bottom of the lights. The back lights i sealed to the edge of the car and the top where it comes off the roof. I will take back out the lights and do around the seal....didnt really want to do that since i put in new seals behind there. I will let ya know how it goes. Thanks a lot guys.

seeing as you tried the most common ones, im guna guess its coming through your drainage hole under the petrol cap, through the other side and running between the 2 sheets of metal and into the car, running down the arch and into the boot

id take rear plastics out and get a mate to hose the car while your searching for the leak inside
