It will need to be drilled out mate. Use a small pilot drill to drill right through the center of bolt then go up a size and do the same. It will eventually come out.

yeah i was thinking about it, i just didn't want to balls it up and end up wrecking the thread. Not even sure if i have a long enough drill bit for the job :(

There was a company on ebay who sell a kit including drill exact size you need for the thread, a cleaning tap and final thread tap for about 8 quid. IIRC was called Toolmaster quick delivery too.

Its called a tap and drill set.

If you damage the thread on the lca bolt just turn it off with a breaker bar and use a new lock nut:nice:

I had ago at drilling it today, didnt go well really the drilling didnt even phase the snapped bolt it only put a scratch in it :angry2:.

Were you using a new small diameter hss drill bit about an 1/8th maybe. That usually works for me. Centre punch the broken bolt too.

that bolt doesnt need to be loose to remove/install coilovers.
it happened me when i put on my skunk 2 lca's. i just went to the local scrapyard, bought a full rear arm and built all my own stuff onto it. handier than drilling holes...

Yea...that bolt didnt even need to come out mate. I have just always undone the bolt that holds the LCA to the subframe... much easier

As Above That bolt didnt have to come out, undo the bolt holding the bottom of the strut in place and lever down on the hub.

can you not grind off the other side where it is threaded in to . this way you can pull the bolt out then just replace it with a bolt and locknut . will do the same job :p

Trouble is, it'll be seized into the bush in the LCA, which means new bushes, or easier option, new LCA's

soak it in wd40 . get the captive nut grinded off then hammer and punch and chap the bolt out the bush

exact same thing happened to me.dont waste any time drilling, beat a 11 sided socket onto the captive nut on the other side and try break that off the lca its onlt spot weleded in 3 places iirc.failing this cut it off with angle grinder which is what i had to do.

Even thats not necessary, all you had to do was loosen the bolt that connects upper camber arm to trailing arm, undo the shock bolts top and bottom, undo the drop link from the lca and then slip her on out without any effort:naughty:

Yeah thats the next action plan :nice: i've got some new cutting discs ill have a crack at that and see how it goes.

thanks for all the replys guys

Same thing happened to me! Cut through bolt and lca should fall out..Used a breaker bar and socket on nut the other side because it wouldnt thread out.. drilling doesnt work because theyre hardened bolts it wouldnt beat out either! so just pressed out the bush and pressed in new one new bolt and lock nut.. job done:nice: pain in the arse tho!!

Right i've cut that captive nut off, the bolt is well seized in there. tried all sorts beating it out aint going to work i don't think.

where do i go from here guys ??.

thanks

you tried drilling it with decent quality drill bits?
