Hi all,

Got myself another civic, had it for a few months now and all is good.

The key has always been a bit tricky in the ignition barrel just due to the key being worn, but it's getting worse, I finally got it to turn in the ignition and the green immobiliser light kept flashing, f**k.

So got the spare key, which is bare metal with the chip just kind of resting in the key, and it started and turned no bother.

So, I need a new key cut and programmed but I don't have the red key, is there anything I can do or will I just have to tape up my spare metal key and just use that? Will try get a picture of the 2 keys up.

Also, the ecu set up is weird which could complicate the programming situation, the guy I bought it off says it has a hondata ecu with a mappable chip, mapped on chrome....the car is obd2a and the ecu converts it to obd1?

Hopefully someone can help. Thanks for reading all that.

Edit:
Black is the worn out one
Metal is the spare

If it's a hondata chip, it won't be on chrome. If the ecu is also obd1, it's likely it's a P28 that's been socketed and chipped. Pull the Ecu out and have look at the numbers written on the side.

Will have a look when i get home bud. Cars fully stripped and can see the ecu, says hondata on it but will have a closer look and see what the codes are.

Thanks

It must of been converted from Obd1 to obd2a internally then. A proper P28 doesn't have an immobiliser chip inside so I'm lead to believe.

I'm a bit stuck as to what it could be mate.

Last resort is to desolder the immobiliser chip from the Ecu.

I wish I could help you. But I'm stumped

Yeah I see what you are saying Luke, way beyond my talents unfortunately.

Cheers jesse, no idea what to do. Just glad I have a spare key.

I have emailed tdi north as they are a hondata dealer I think. Hopefully they can either help or do something for me.

There is a key guy who lives nearby me dude. He might be able to help. I'll text you
