Hi, towards the end of my kswap as my engine is still out of the car iv decided or still deciding to go k20\k24

This is what I have at the moment
Facelift ek9
04 Ep3 type r full engine
Ep3 gearbox with lsd
Skunk2 70mm tb
Skunk2 alpha header
RRC mani with adaptor plate
Performance stage 4 clutch
Dc5 power steering

This is what's on order next, I don't have the following yet but will do soon
Drag cartel dic
Karcept cai
Rdx 410cc injectors
Kpro
Custom exhaust
Dc2 sub frame and steering rack

If I do decide to go k24 bottom what block would best suit my set up with my k20 head,
Will I need to change pistons and rods

I won't be boosting so I'm looking for the best power bhp and torque I can get from a N\A aswel as a reliable motor

Iv been on few forums including k20org but I would appriciate advice from someone from uk as our k24 motors are bit different to theres as they tend to use the acura tsx k24a2 and the aussi k24a3 iv read are bit different to ours

Seeing as iv got most the bolt ons I'd want a buget build from here,

All advise will be welcome

K24a3 is what you want but you can't rev it past 7500 on standard rods I would also replace oil pump with k20a oil pump, drag cartel cams you need to Cheaks ptv clearance on standard pistons

@DC5CON - were you not running a built k24 a while ago then something happened it? How did you rate it?

Still running it now lad had a problem with oil pump early this year but she's back in business since sept making 296hp 210tq fully built they are savage to move I also had a k20 fully built 269hp 188tq there's a big difference between the 2 engines both mapped on dyno danamics by vtec6000 on here

Thats serious power!! Any build up info on it?? Or a spec list, would love to have a read up on it.

Do u really need to rev past 7500, and if replacing rods wat rods would u use, also will stock pistons be fine if u are reving past 7500 with the rods changed

Which one did u prefer of the 2 builds

If you want to use full potential of dic cams yes but you don't have to ,if you used standard cams your peak power would be around 7500 to 7800 probley make around 250hp 195ft and you could use standard parts then ,rods and oil pump are weak points in k24 if revved above 7500

What rods would u replace with if you was to replace and what price would u b looking at, also could u use the ep3 oil pump?

ep3 oil pump is prb oil pump same as dc5 oil pump so yes you could use it Marley rods or wosner rods any good brand name don't use Chinese rods

Just seen a a combo sale on ebay with aftermarket rods and pistons for sale, eagle and weisco, what would be the best compression to run as I don't have a clue about this

If your using DC DIC cams then you won't need very high compression. I'd pick a piston close to 11.5:1CR.

Thanks for the advice, so that's piston and rods and what already been mentiond, will anything else need changing or is that it

The k20 liked to rev pulled very well up top revved to 9250rpm and made nice tq down low as we'll but the k24 you don't have to rev it as much has mad tq from 2000 rpm rev limited to 8600 rpm ,I would say the k24 you don't have to drive the **** out of it to pull strong

I have a K24A3 bottom end with a K20A2 oil pump that has been revving to 7900 for a year and its absolutely fine. Loads of 1/4 mile days and a few track days along with daily use
