K20A - A few home truths.

235.9@fly
197.7atw.
160lbft.
Eurospec dyno.

Graph up later. So where to start, only had a couple of short blasts and the car feels great, but as you can see the dyno has not really changed, gains are roughly 5bhp and the torque has not changed at all.
Romain seems to think the primaries on the manifold are now possibly too big, there is a slight dip at 5600k, weather I will feel this at full chat on track who knows, although not chasing figures I was hoping to at least break the 200 barrier, a lot of work and outlay for not a lot really. As said the car sounds and feels great but until I can get to the track I will have to wait.

Im sure Romain will read and give his view at some point.

I did measure the primaries,

41.64mm DC Sports.

44.63mm Solid Fabrications.

Nice figures and I wouldn't take them too seriously as I'm sure the car is very responsive and goes like sink:drool:

Thanks, as with anything I have bought or done to the car I tell it how I see it good or bad. Trouble is the car felt great before the DC Sports flexi pipe collapsed, my backbox was knackered so a new system was preferable.

Its all ifs, buts and maybes but I cant help thinking the money would have been better spent on a full MFactory gearset, where I would have felt an instant and very noticeable gain, but this time round I wanted to get the max from bolt ons before I looked at other options.

Old spec:
DC Sports manifold.
Fujitsubo Legalis R system (60.5mm).
AEM open filter.

231.2@fly.
193.6atw.
160lbft.

New spec:
Custom manifold from Solid Fabrications.
Custom true 2.5" exhaust system.
RBC port matched.
70MM tb.
Karcepts 70mm intake.

235.9@fly
197.7atw.
160lbft.

Had a small rip last night, definately feels good up throught the gears, looking at March trackdays now to get a full test before Spa in April.

You've given me a bit of motivation this morning Chris! If you can get through all your problems I can deal with mine!

Good work mate, and I may need to talk to you about my system

:D

Just got to work through it mate, somedays its :angry2:

Hoping I may get to bring the stock car to the meet, but I have work at the moment, working six days a week while I have a contract.

I don't blame you buddy! Bring in the dollar while you can hey!

Okay so been running it for a week now, the dip on the graph is very noticeable at motorway cruising speeds, 70-75mph you get a surge, like somebody has just taken their hand off the air filter, its very very annoying.
So not sure what to do now, if I should try the DC header back on, on all the other threads I see the RBC works great (people using the same dyno, before and after), its not the exhaust so it must be the header, the car doesnt seem to have the pick up punch it had in later gears or maybe its just me, the money I have spent on headers is bordering on ridiculous and Its still not right. Need to discuss with Romain.
Mase is over soon, he is supposed to be the best, whether he could improve it who knows. Like the look of Mikes Hytech, its more money whatever I do, cant believe buying a header can be such a f*cking nightmare.

Opinions welcome??!!

Have you any resonators in exhaust and back boxs.

Got vtec6000 to map teg and a custom system 2.5 no resonators or silencers and it made 255.
with the dc sports mani.

Do you think the internal diameter of manifold is a bit big

Romain does think this on the runners, I have one long silencer to keep noise low, compromise for motorway and track.

255? Don't be modest:D It made peak 257bhp and rolled a consistent 256bhp. Lot to be said for a straight thru exhaust on these K series engines.

Some nice figures, I was hoping for 245/170 with my mods, when comparing the same mods from dynos around the world, regardless of some reading high or low. But its all about this flat spot at the moment, think Im going to have to try the DC back on there with yet another remap first.

man i feel for you! its soo close now after all these problems!

hope you get this flat spot sorted soon mate!

Yet more drama, went to fit the DC manifold back today for another remap and...it doesnt fit! Alan had modified the exhaust on the second trip to him and I didnt know, so after a chat to him he is going to have another crack at the custom manifold, different design on the runners to hopefully sort this flat spot. I will get him to modify the DC in case the second build doesnt work either, hopefully it will. This Kswap is driving me mad.
