Right gents, im doing a K Swap.

Going to post exactly how much it has all cost me. Im trying to do this with being smart and to prove that it can be done relatively cheaply to disprove all the too expensive quotes.

So here we go...

K20 Engine
Gearbox
ECU
Loom
Driveshafts
Hubs

This lot has cost me £1250 so far.

I won't be using the hubs obviously and probably not the driveshafts so they will be sold.

The only parts i will be using to counteract the costs, are what is already in the car. I have sold and will be selling parts that aren't in the car which i WILL NOT be including in the breakdown.

Second post on this thread will detail costs and parts only.

I will be doing most if not all of the labour myself. Im no mechanic but i know enough to do this. IMO if you can drop a gearbox and change a clutch you can do this.

If u wanna save more money you can use the shafts you have with some b series ones. I know ek ones work anyway

RVM - I know buddy, thats what inspired this read, i planned on doing it real time from start to finish with exact costs at the point in time so that others can see. If you feel its unessecary then please delete.

With regard to shafts, you can use Standard K series shafts with B series cv joints

If its any help mate, im trying to do the same thing and so far i have got:

K20
EP3 Box
Swap Mounts
DC5 Box
ECU & Loom
Swap Wiring Loom
DSS Shafts
Immob Delete
Pas Delete
Full Hybrid Fuel kit

And that lot has cost me £2300

I only need a shifter set up and a manifold and it will be running and driveable, so it can be done fairly cheap...

And i should be able to sell my B18 for 1500-2000...

There is a lot of used parts coming up too so there can be savings made there, be interested to know how you fair out ill be following this thread.

When I was doing mine I had a b18 swap to trade in, sold a mugen cluster that was in ther car, oem rad & airbox sold etc, apexi intake came with the k20, sold that, and it was looking like a very cheap swap, then I started buiying **** and lost count lol:nerv:

Haha sounds like when i swapped an RB25 into my 180sx. I budgeted well and was on course to nearly break even! Then one thing led to another and it cost me 2 grand.

Which in hindsight still wasn't bad!

I'm not sure which way to go with this yet, wether to just do the ultimate budget with things that can be replaced later with better items I.E. Radiator.

Or just go balls out and do it straight away.

I'm thinking the former just so i can have it in and running before christmas...

If you bought an ep3 and broke it for parts I doubt you'd lost much money over buying the engine, box etc seperately? Also get to see the engine running and what not

very interesting thread! your local to peterborough arnt you andy? I'm looking to doing a k-swap into the spring, what are your plans with management? k-pro?

Yes buddy i am indeed.

Not sure yet, im still in the process of working out exactly what i want and how i want to do it at the moment pal.

For the time being i think it will be standard ECU and immob delete but we'll see. I havent actually looked into that side of things to much yet.

engine mounts
driveshafts
conversion harness
ecu
exhaust manifold/cat back
radiator and hoses (k swap is opposite side to B series),
Eg/dc2 subframe if using ekk2 mounts
long arm intake
Shifter + cables

lets not forget the engine and g/box

Thats great buddy. and there isnt any hidden bits after that? Will the ep3 ecu work or would i have to get the imob taken off or is there a patch?

That is not a complete list, parts missing and some other items are optional, depending on how you want to do things.
