Do you have spacers on the front axle? Fenders and wheels seems much wider then stock ones..

Fair play that is mint and a really good spec. Was that knock hill track?

so.....

first thing i checked was the condition of the bores, I never had high hopes but They looked like new!! :) No bores or scratches... Boom!

so then went on to check the bores for out of round and taper...

The measurements came out perfect and spot on with spec CHUFFED

So next job was cleaning the valves and pistons .... The job I dreaded the most :nono:

The valves took about 10 mins a valve :angry2:
It would be fair to say i had no fingertips left by the end of the day :win:

more parts arrived

Next job was to start to try and clean up the head

Before:

got the ports all cleaned up then gave the head a good clean, new valve seals in, valves lapped and springs and retainers all put back together :nice:

After
]

Then got the oil pump all stripped and cleaned

then put back together with new seals :nice:

also got the crank seal done

cleaned out the vtec solenoid

then changed the thermostat and thought they had sent the wrong one but the old one was an aftermarket thermostat

Also managed to make up a rod bolt stretch gauge from stuff i had lying around in the garage, Saved myself about 90 notes

WOW Nice write up! Thanks for sharing - very interesting.
Could you please post a picture from the old worn piston rings compared to the new ones?
Great work! Go ahead.
cheers Oliver

U can't tell if the rings are busted by looking at them. I placed the old oil rings back in the bore and the gap was out of spec by 0.20mm

Spent hours getting the block spotless then started fitting the bearings ready for checking the clearances with plastigauge.

Took a good bit of time swapping the bearings about for the rods to get them all perfectly in spec

Main and rod bearings all packed in order ready for final assembly :nice:

Started fitting and aligning the rings on the piston

FINALLY!!! Waited about 2 months for these rod bolts to arrive:clap:
