Jesse888's ek9 build thread

Carbon mods.
I'm slacking abit with the splitter I'll start making some more progress tomorrow.

No worries, I'm waiting on some ally for my airdam and coating the splitter in a couple of layers of black paint.

looking good sexy boy! now about some plywood on the underside to smooth the air flow under the car :nice:

Was thinking of that. But it's a lot more hassle and weight to do that. And the underside of the ek9 is surprisingly flat. I've lifted the exhaust up into the well as high as possible to help with that.
Its mainly the lower arms at the rear and the bumper that's causing the air to slow going underneath.
Obviously having it flat flat is the best but I can't be arsed with it. May mess about with a rear diffuser and try and extend it towards the front of the car as far as poss.

my brother in law works in aerodynamics and he was about how people who race caterhams and locosts tilt the front numberplate to generate some downforce, try that lol

Haha really? My plan was to take it off completely. Less weight lol
Also see a YouTube vid where some Japs took some cars and tracked them with number plates on and off to measure the difference in water and oil temps.
And the difference was surprising.

Also why would a race car have a number plate?

i think its some requirement or it was track days or something along them lines

Small splitter update on page one.
Engine mount update to come once snow is gone!

Nice updates Jesse
Splitter is coming along nicely :))
Exhaust does look to stick out a bit far tbh mate, but i'm sure in the flesh its not as bad as the photo makes it out to be.

Would you shorten the centre section or cut the tip to shorten it ?

I fixed it since by sliding the centre section further into the cat pipe. I've had it made so its adjustable. I can't come forward much more because it will catch the underside of the car. It's a lot better now. Like 2 1/2 inch showing now

Stunning car and writeup! That shifter... if it was any longer you could pilot it from an aircraft ... o_O

^ haha yeah I know. Weighed a ton aswell!

You've really been cracking on with this looking great I'm going to have to put you to work on mine soon. Your putting me to shame.

Engine mounts in today and thread updated!
Thanks Matt lol you know I'm in the situation where I have all day to mess about and cars are my only hobby. When you need my help let me know and I'll pop over.
