Phoenix Yellow EK9 - 1996 DC2 Type R - EG6 SiR2
Been a while since Ive used a forum!
Used Civic life frequently back in the day, then Honda Karma but never gelled with its layout.

A thread to follow/document the process of restoration/upkeep of the small Japanese import quartet I've managed to amass over the last two years.

- Genuine Y56 EK9. Bought as a bare shell with a few interior trims/carpet remaining, this is very much a longer term restoration that gathers parts as and when they become available. It has remained relatively untouched in my ownership. So far I've acquired a 5 stud hub swap, EK9 shocks and springs, rear bumper, oem spoiler, DC2 front subframe/rack/arms/arb, OEM rear LCAs and an OEM rear ARB. Hopefully get the thing sat on its wheels for the first time in years in the coming months in preparation to send to paint.

- 1993 Civic EG6 SiR2. Purchased as a rolling shell again, I now have 99% of the parts to make this a complete car again once the final steps have been completed to allow it to go in for paint. Built B18C (12.5:1, skunk2 rods, wiseco pistons over bored 1mm, Brian crower stage 2 cams, supertech valves, skunk2 pro series valve springs, Jenvey ITBS and 450cc injectors) short ratio box (MFactory FD/GearX straight cut gearset and MFactory plated LSD) should make for a little ripper.

- 1996 Champ white Integra DC2 Type R. Bought as complete car minus running gear, I've K swapped it using a K20A2, M Factory LSD and the usual bolt ons making 238bhp. Has seen reliable service for coming up to a year and a half now.

- 1996 Red Integra DC2 Type R. This caused a bit of a stir... purchased through Mathewsons Auction house I paid well beyond what I was willing to spend but thankfully I feel the gamble has paid off. It will be returned to a more OEM appearance with a fresh re-spray, perhaps with a few subtle yet tasteful modifications. I love my K Swap DC2 dearly but its never properly "felt" like a DC2. Id been searching for another one with its original B18C to have along side it, this offers just that and being factory red just strikes as being that little bit different. Eagerly awaiting the chance to get started on returning it to the condition it deserves to be in.

- And lastly, a 1997 Civic Coupe track car.
I've had a bit of thing for coupes for a long while now, this being my third. Fully caged, lexan windows all round and extensively lightened, it will be fitted with a built K24A3, using my old short box comprising of an M Factory 5.8FD, Spoon 1.5w plated LSD and JDM 4th 5th and 6th gears. It serves as a replacement shell to my old K20 civic coupe track car that unfortunately requires too much work to render the shell a viable option to send for a roll cage fitting.

I'll update with photos shortly.

Nice fleet :nice: Had saw that Milano Integra, you definitely exceeded the guide on that one haha, looking forward to progress on it.

Solid shell? And have you managed to get it running yet?

Cheers! I had a good look at it when I went across last Sunday to settle the balance owed, I bought it blind haha.

Its honest enough, I knew it needed paint and a key/barrel set but that didnt put me off. The arches are great and haven't been rolled like so many have now, sills are solid, boot floor is free from corrosion and the drivers/passenger footwells look good too so the prone areas are in good order.
I turned the engine over by hand and its lovely and smooth/free, compression feels good on all four cylinders and the box feel through the lever feels precise with no tight spots selecting any gear.

Engine bay looks as if it'll spruce up well too, one or two scabs around the captive nuts that hold the wing support brackets onto the chassis leg/front panel but again, solid everywhere else.

From a quick nosey at the wiring I'll be able to get it running by removing the aftermarket immobiliser unit its had in there at some stage and simply turning the iginition switch with a screwdriver, no factory immobiliser to worry about. Im confident it's going to make a lovely car I can enjoy.

Nice one mate, I was bidding on that aswell but tapped out when it exceeded 8k. Hope the risk pays off, keep us updated.

Red teg! Collection arranged for the coming Sunday.

And last but not least, the coupe:

Red DC2 is back in the workshop. Removed the aftermarket immob unit and wiring (if the standard of wiring I found is common practice among immob installations then I'd begrudge paying anyone to fit one, absolutely awful. Thin gauge wiring doubled up where a thicker gauge was as standard, twist and tapped connections and connector blocks galore), a dash of fresh fuel and oil and shes a runner. Sounds absolutely sweet and the Kakimoto exhaust its come with sounds fantastic! Im not a fan of angled back boxes so if it stays on I'll be modifying it to sit straight.

Gearbox feels faultless, and drives with no knocks or bangs. Feels super tight for a car thats sat for so long.
I'm now searching for the following:
- 96 spec rear bumper, any colour so long as plate tabs are intact and the remainder in otherwise good condition. (Edit: SOURCED)
- OEM bonnet in VGC (Edit: SOURCED)
- OEM 96 bootlid/glass in VGC
Rear plastics will be coming out to asses inner quarter condition prior to getting it booked in for a full re-spray!
If the boot floor/front footwells are anything to go by I shouldnt find any nasty surprises. Its super clean!

Managed to get a full lock set/barrel and keys for the red DC2 after being let down on the set I found initially.

Hoping to dig my K Swap DC2 out shortly to have a new 3"exhaust made, send my spare engine mounts off to have some softer poly bushes fitted and get it booked in to have it re-mapped. Ive had trouble with it hesitating/spluttering at low RPM for a while now and despite replacing the TPS and scaling it in K Manager correctly its only ever made a marginal improvement. K swaps can be sensitive to how they're earthed too so theyve been replaced using quality terminals and cable but again no improvement.

Im attempting to make it a more road friendly car by reducing cabin noise and vibration so Im hoping the softer mounts and a track friendly exhaust will improve it. Has to be better than the straight through mid pipe and Spoon N1 thats on there currently!

Been well over a year since I've been able to drive it properly so Im keen to get some miles in on it this year!

Good the key still has the plastic cover on......first time I've seen that in ages

Little update.
Key set arrived the other day, red dc2 now starts with a key and not a screw driver :)
I've got a bonnet to collect next week, rear bumper has arrived. Just need to sort a JDM bootlid for it now and it'll be somewhere near sending for paint.
Managed to acquire most components to get the EK9 rolling temporarily ahead of moving premises early next month.
And managed to bag myself a set of genuine EG6 SiR headlights without the usual price hike they seem to command.
The coupe sold the other week but I saved the exhaust, the plan is to have it modified to suit my white DC2 in the coming weeks once I can get it out of storage.

Looking forward to getting them all under one roof again in the near future.

Having done some research it appears the bonnet on the red DC2 is a J's Racing item.
I've got an oem bonnet for it now so this is surplus to requirements. £500.00 takes it. All intact just needs the awful paint sorting.

Dug the white DC2 out of hibernation for the first time in months. Obligatory photo ensued of course

Finally acquired all the necessary parts for the red DC2 prior to going for paint.
- Drivers side door handle
- RX bootlid with privacy glass
- Bonnet
- Rear bumper
- Key set (ign barrel, door locks and boot lock)
- Parcel shelf
- Rear speaker pods
- Interior carpet (original has a tear next to the ECU unfortunately)
Awaiting a date it can go in to be done. Very excited.

Small follow up, the red DC2 was due to go in for paint this week but I've a few more jobs I'd like to complete before it does. The EG6 is now going instead, due to be collected any day now.

Completely stripped bar the dash internally, all seals removed where possible and the last bits of welding inside the bay completed as of last weekend.

Need to source the correct pistons for the B18C along with some bearings once I've measured the rod journals and I can pull it apart and get it all built while the cars away. Hoping to have it back together by June for a Cadwell outing.
