just looking for some tips on this what kind of gains would ya get??a b18c bottom end has come available to me so i was thinking of putting my b16b head on it also would i be better off using the ctr pistons for higher compression??what ecu would also suit best ??

cheers in advance

do the CTR pistons only if you have the means to tune it with a fully re-mappable ECU - hondata etc.

gains are simple. Look at the different power rating between the 16B and 18C rated from Honda.

Watchout the Piston to head, Piston to valves clearences...ride height of PCT are little more than b18c!

cheers for the info..is it a good power gain??would i be better off droppin in a complete b18c??i want to keep the 1600 vtec BANG do ha..

Get yourself a P73 ITR ecu and just bolt your b16b head on to the b18c bottom end and leave ITR pistons in there. The b16b cams will work well with the b18 bottom end. Vtec wont be as aggresive with the b18c because the engine makes more torque earlier in the rev range which smoothens the transition to vtec.

So if i buy the rods and crank from a b18c i will have a higher compression b18c basically? would my b16b ecu work with this or would i need a b18c ecu or a mapped hondata or something?

ben

Yes. b16b ecu is not suitable to run it. b18c may get you by but Hondata or other fully programmable as previously mentioned is the ideal

So if hondata is going to be the preferred one anyway it might just be worthwhile to drop the b16b pistons in, in that case?

if you're tuner is competent enough to tune it - then yes. Otherwise your window/margin of error is diminished.
