If they (esure) are offering you the value of a VTi, no matter if it's low or high, then it is a false value. You do not have to accept the offer. If they offered you 10k, but later found out that they gave you the value of a different car, you'd be liable to pay back. So really, accept Type R money or tell them to get stuffed.
Second. Esure are responsible for getting you the value of your vehicle, if they have managed to come to you with an offer but for the wrong vehicle, call Sky and compile evidence showing it is the EK9, if they stall, please mention that you will want some sort of recuperation due to loss of earnings as the unwillingness to recognise your vehicle as the type R has left you without a way of getting to work (you can blag this to them.)
Thirdly, if you do accept a low offer or that of a VTi, you fully accept the lower offer AND they could actually turn around and say you accepted the value of a wrong car which you recognised as being wrong so you have to pay them back.
Basically. Tell em to get stuffed. Tell em you'll be looking for more money if they don't sort it within a week as you need to get to work. Send them chassis numbers along with any other paperwork clearly showing it's the EK9.
Hope I helped.
