Hi all. Just a quick question. I have been on the elephant insurance site to get a quote for an EK9. On the vehicle menu, it only comes up with a VTI R (import) am I right in saying that this will mean an EK9? Just want to make sure I will be insuring the right thing.

They might class it as that, but doubt very much that you will be covered if you try and claim.

best thing to do in these cases, is to call them and get it stated in writing that the EK9 is the car that is insured with your chassis and engine numbers on the confirmation letter.

I am going to ring them up tomorrow, always is better to speak with them over the phone than doing it all online. If I have no joy with them, I will try sky insurance as I have heard good reports about them.

avoid elephant, their ****, imo, if the insurance company doesnt list the correct car, word for word, avoid them.

Use moneysupermarket.com.

they do comparisons, and they have the ek9 listed. They found a company alot cheaper than elephant, elephant quoted me 2768.00, and that was for the vtec import 1.6 VTI.

Through moneysupermarket got it down too 1800.

EDIT.

Avoid Sky Insurance too, they dont even get back to you.

No its not mate thats not the model, see if you explain to them its an import and tell them the engine and Horsepower output they should be able to give you cover, they will ask you every last detail about the car but they will insure it.

keep in mind that Elephant Admiral and bell are all the same company (EUI LTD) There not the greatest but they will insure it, also the car isnt a Civic Type R Import thats the EP3 JDM

Our very minimum criteria for any car is over 19 years old and must have held a licence for at least 2 years.

If you PM me your name, phone number and a good time to call, I'm happy to arrange a call back for you. We offer a 20% discount to members of this club :nice:

I have just tried moneysupermarket.com but all that was listed was a
civic type r or VTI. I dont think it would be one of these would it? Also is it wise to insure the EK9 TPF&T or is it just best to do it fully comp?

.....and thats where i didnt get a call back

Called me back after bout 15 mins of gettin that message to be honest, couldn`t really do much for me to be honest got better quotes else where.
Good of em to try though !!

I called Sky directly and got an instant quote.

After shopping round I had a much better quote through Adrian Flux.

I called Sky back, they dropped thier quote to beat Adrian Flux and a day later the paper work arrvied in the post.

If you take the time to call them directly, they are very efficient and give good rates for EK9 members.

Hi James,

my apologies, the first time we tried to call you, your mobile wasn't working, you gave me your work number and we still couldn't get through. My colleague is about to phone you now.

As above, we are usually quick to respond to quote requests.

Thanks for your patience

Ollie

:nono: if any club memner has any problem with call backs, drop me a PM and I will usually respond the same day. I dont think you should avoid us as we are usually very competitive, we insure a huge amount of civics and we offer a 20% discount to EK9.org members :nice:

Thank you. We have many happy customers who are insured on Civics... :nice:

i also was looking forward to getting a quote from sky, as i had read about them here and the 20% discount etc. i was also told i would be phoned back, i wasnt. i cant complain about the phone mannor however, very polite and accurate on details, plus i never had to speak to some long lost brother of the bali tribe from the outer boundaries of azerbajhan!! :)

i phoned them back, and the best quote they could do, INCLUDING their 20% discount was £1200 something.

i thought that was nuts!! considering sky had previously quoted me on a s15 specR, with mods for 950 quid last summer! so i was 1 year younger, and 1 year less no claims!

no thanks, il stick with my current premium of £790. :)

might phone if i go s15 hunting again though :p

I can give Sky a thumbs up too, we're not insured with them but I understand that one insurance company cant possibly give the best quotes to each application. I have heard plenty about Sky, and all I have heard is good stuff, keep it up Ollie.
