**HOW TO** Install 4-point harness

found this very useful cheers steven :)

got stuck in my seat after putting takata straps in wrong way lol this thread helped me escape haha

Yeah mate a bit more effort is requires to move it. I think i repositioned my after install and never moved again Lol
And i scores the plastic in the centre armrest , if you are in a EK4 Lol

Yeah i used a short eyebolt on the exhaust tunnel as i have since moved the eyebolt to there. I made up small spreader plates from 6mm steel and secured the eyebolts with 7/16" UNF nylocs

Cheers mate
Did you weld the spreader plate in place ?

the eyebolt by the handbrake wont fit with a std recaro.

I plan on running fixed buckets
but havent got them yet
Going to fit the eyebolt and hope for the best

Cheers mate

If you were planning on running the plates inside the car then yes you would have to

However if you place the plates under the car there is no need to weld them in place :nice:

Yeah i was planning on running them outside the car
Cheers for the help !!

the bolt is fixeed clear of the transmission tunnel with aftermarket seats so should be fine..

Always preferable to run off the exhaust tunnel though, in the event of a crash you really don't want the belt secured to the seat/seatrail in any way :nice:

I have been told that even if you run a spanner plate welded to the tunnel it can easily rip out that sheet metal in the event of a crash!

Exhaust tunnel is double skinned though, when installed correctly i would find that hard to believe.....

Quick question, is the bolt diameter of the eye loops 7/16"?

This.

Really don't like the idea of having your belts anchored to the seat subframe :nono:

How are people getting around using the stock recaro when putting the eye bolt in on the handbrake side ?????? Cheers

Ideally drill a hole in the exhaust tunnel, put a spreader plate on the outside (you can use a touch of tiger seal it will help hold it in place and mainly seal it) and pop the eye bolt through. Tighten up and you are done! I'd strongly suggest not running it off the seat rail.

This is how I did it on my old DC2 can't see it being any different on the EK9 recaros, take the seat out and flip it over. Then get a big hammer and a chisel or something to get the nut off where the seatbelt attachs. Once it's off fit your eyebolt and secure with a nylock nut at the back.
