---- Honda Civic EJ9 1.4 Rebuild started 19.02.2016

After purchasing my Ej9 one year ago i slowly modified it whilst using it as a daily, i managed to get it a standard that i was happy with.

Through the year the car started to get rusty (common places) so gave them a temp fix but that started to fail over time, coming towards the end of the year i started to drop the car more for the last few shows and see how low i could go, as a result of this i started to smash my sump, killed 3 in the space of 2 months.

All of the smashing sump and rust coming back business started to annoy me so sold the wheels (Tsw Trophies) and jumped on the look out for a daily car (VW Polo 6n2) and a unit to rebuild the civic

The list for the rebuild is endless including full arch rebuild and patching, Colour change, smooth the bay a bit, full engine and gearbox raise and a full underseal along with a lot of other goodies here and there.

After lifting the car up to get it in the unit i still struggled but once it was in i cracked on!
stripped the full end off for easier access for the front.
Also started to have a look at the NS rear arch and weigh up the rust, inner side is alot worse than i thought. marked all the rust up on the outside panel and started cutting, ready to patch now.

Edit 1! :-

Cut the rest of the NS arch out and started to make the patches, pleased with it to say I've never done this before.

Just gotta cut the patch for inside then can start welding!!!

Also stripped down the rear of the car down to build a boot build and relocate the battery.

Update :-
Not really had that much time to do any major work on the car, but getting little things here and there started,

Gas for the welder has ran out so that's stopped me from learning to weld for the time being, but cracked on with other things.

All ways loved the look of vented wings but read about the aftermarket ones not fitting very well
So decided to take to the grinder and customise my own

In two minds with the indicator, to remove or to relocate

Will be good to see the end result, I'll be getting rust sorted (again) but won't be doing it myself so good luck!
Vented wings look vicious too, would just get rid of the indicators but that's my opinion keep it up bud :nice:

I got aftermarket vented wings and fit perfectly. Love the look of them. They where on the car when I bought it. If I'm not mistaken they're J's Racing and not really cheap so probably that's why they fit so well.

Keep up the nice build :nice::nice::nice:

UPDATE -
Firstly thank you for the comments so far.

Thought I'd get the boot ready for filler
So cut a patch and tacked it in so I can smooth the wiper hole, Also started to tuck some wires in the bay for abit of a cleaner look (started on the driver side)

Good day on the 9 today!!
After reading 30+ different forums and 4 attempts of trying suss out how to tuck my passenger headlight loom I finally did it!! The forums I had read made it sound and look a lot easier.

I had to remove the glove box and drop all of the heater tunnels/climate control to pull the loom through the firewall, then feed it through the door pillar.

whilst doing this I managed to relocate my fuse box into the glove box.

I had to modified the fuse box and glove box so they are both still accessible and useable.
Such a relief!

Edit : Finished off the wire tuck on the drivers side, so the headlight loom runs down the wing, the wiper loom is now in the scuttle and the engine main loom connects in the scuttle, all done with out cutting or extending wires!

After having some of my food disappear and blaming my mate who is in the unit with me (s13 rebuild) I thought we may have mice or rats so bought a £1 trap to see.. And it dosent look good! We have mice! They don't even help pay the rent!

Update:
Had abit of fun today! Got the rear arch fully welded up on the outside skin, ready for grinding back and filling.
image.jpeg

Not the best welding but I'm getting better! Just got the inside for the arch to patch now.

Also made a start on the bonnet, always loved the look of badboy bonnets, I know yeh abit "maxpower" but I'm hooked on them! Made a couple of templates then made it in metal

also need to do the arches on mine and possible engine respray and wire tuck , so i will be keeping an eye on this , keep up the good work

Update :
Finally finished the welding on the near side rear arch! So fully welded and sealed inside and outside, (inside was a b!tch!!!)
Also Got a skim of fibre glass on the outside aswell to strengthen the welds up and keep the rust away!
image.jpeg

Abit messy I know.

Started to make some stronger shapes for the bonnet, and got welding them on,

Can't really tell what it's going to look like until it's one colour and smooth but, I'm sort of getting an idea!

Update:- finished the bonnet off so ready for sanding,
Made a plate for the other side of the "badboy bonnet" welded that on and as I've relocated my washer jets into the scuttle panel I've welded and smoothed the holes in the bonnet.

Update: Wasn't too happy with the bonnet so made a few cuts to it and shaved it a little, now the lines go into the bumper it all fits a lot better! Another skim of filler and I'm happy with it!

Started on the wings again, took a while to suss out how to get the vent to sit in but I worked it out, only tacked into place to start the shape off and see how the angles are! Seems to look good, will be blanking out the side marker.

Update: Things are going well so far, got the Bonnet all sanded and the front in primer (mainly to see if there was any pot holes or bits I'd missed).
image.jpeg

And got one wing ready for primer! What a fiddly job!!! But starting to see the shapes of things and I'm liking my progress so far.
Will be putting a tight skim over the wing again.
