Hi everyone on ek9.org this is my 1st thread in this forum
So The question is :
I got a 1997 EK9 coming from japan shipped to Bristol Port
I think the car will arrive in next 2 weeks
But the thing is can I pick the car up and drive about 100miles back home????
The reason I asked is because the car don't have car reg, road tax,MOT,Insurance
Thank you very much

I no over here they give ya the jap reg tanslated into readable letters  so we can insure it for a maximum 24hrs to drive it home

Need Dunc on this Issue, but thinking about it i think he rents a trailer or something.

think about it mate

the car will not legally be registered to be on uk roads, it wont exist on any database, it wont be insured, and you wont have paid road tax.

what do you think?

it'll need a trailor :) or if you have a traders policy, you may be able to wangle it that way, but you'll still need a fully insured and registered set of trade plates, with the driver on the policy etc.

i have a department of transport handbook and it clearly states that you are allowed to drive an imported vehicle from the port of entry to the vehicles first destination as long as its insured, therafter it can only be driven to an sva test or an mot station.

i have first hand experience of this as i was stopped by the police on the A1 north of Newcastle after collecting an imported gt4 and was charged with not having mot,tax etc then had the case against me dropped by the procurator fiscal after they realised that i was doing nothing illegal.

when i drive imports home i always take this book with me in case i have to produce it.

a trailer might be a good idea though as the car might have a dud battery if its been sat for a long time (twice i've had to go and buy batteries when collecting a car from the port before driving it home) or it might have bald tyres.

I think it will be hard to get insurance on a non-plated JAPANESE IMPORT, however with traders policy you can get trade plates- thats a differant story...

Just get a recovery or trailor, saves hassle and issues with the Five o...

its not hard at all,an import needs insurance before it can be registered, its done on the chassis number, any company will do it...

OK thx every one for the advice
can't wait for the ek9 to come and join the power of the red VTEC
and here is my waiting ek9

back in the old days (1940) when racing was happening every country had a colour japan = white , ze germans = silver , britain= british racing green . as type r motors are from japan you get a white one . very few were made in the three other colours . a clean white one catches the eye . looks tidy lad
