You've probably heard recently about certain places increasing the availability of halal food within their outlets such as Subway or Pizza Express.

Some people aren't happy by the looks of things, and quite a lot of coverage in the media too.

What's the big deal? Does it affect you?

I couldn't care if I'm honest.
I can see the point of the animal rights people etc but how it effects me? It doesn't.
This to me isn't exactly a major issue, if they want halal meat let them have it.
Other things some of them want I'm not so keen on, they're own "laws" for example.

No problem at all. Food is food. As long as you enjoy it. It all leaves the body from the same place. People moaning over stupid **** like this need to stop breathing

People moaning over stupid **** like this need to stop breathing

A bit strong there don't you think?

Maybe people are moaning because the animal has to be tortured before its killed?

Maybe people are moaning because the animal has to be killed in the name of allah?

People that are strong christian's or Jewish may not want to eat it for that very reason. Whats the problem with that?

Also I hate some peoples politically correct attitude I don't see the point in changing something to suit the minority just because do-gooders perceive it as racist.

Btw I'm not really religious and but I dont agree with animal cruelty whats so ever :nice:

People's take is that the way animals are slaughtered for Halal meat is ruthless. Yet killing is killing in peoples eyes. Whether it be with a gun, stunned, or cut with a knife.

It's a non issue which the media is making a big deal of. Nothing new when it comes to Islam.

I don't care. I ate a dog in Vietnam last year, tasted like ****, and thats the only reason I wouldn't eat one again... Oh and the possibility of rabies.

Hahahahahha epic ^

Part of me thinks, who cares, most of these animals are bred to be killed for food so not bothered how its done tbh. Dont really think about it i just eat it and enjoy.

The bit that annoys me is why this push over of a "kingdom" feels the need to change such things for people that have came to this country. They picked this country and should live our ways of living. We shouldnt have to change things to suit them. I just dont think its right. I am sure there are places already catering for the needs of different religous views on foods and what not. But the major chains shouldnt change for the minority. This is the united kingdom not the united lets please everybody in the whole wide worldom.....

I'm not aware of the news story but "traditional" Halal meat causes undue suffering to animals. I don't think it should be encouraged.

If the animal is stunned I do not have a problem, although if the animal is stunned then can the meat be considered "Halal"?

I just think its plain cruel. If these people care so much for a perfect god why would their god want animals cruely treated. That to me is a bit of a contradiction.
Dunx

I don't want any part of it. Ive seen how its done with the electronic bolt and its pretty harsh, but at least thats it over with and there is no suffering. The though of the animal bleeding out as its still alive bothers me. :nono:

That film utterly shocked me, thats outrageous fairplay...

This is more to do with the British people have religious beliefs thrust upon them. and rightly so, we are pissed off.

Religion - the root of all evil.

Word.

The bit that annoys me is why this push over of a "kingdom" feels the need to change such things for people that have came to this country. They picked this country and should live our ways of living. We shouldnt have to change things to suit them.

Oh my god I cant believe this statement, such an intense display of ignorance.

If halal is stopping people going to subway (or any other fast food establishment) surely that is a bonus, since the food in these holes is abysmal.

Also just to mix it up, you guys talking about the horrible death the animal suffers, whilst I agree completely on this point, is it not somewhat ironic that you are worried about the brutal death of halal animals but dont worry about the horrific life lived by animals that are basically mass produced for the food that we eat everyday?

To be fair, from personal experience, Halal meat tastes the same, I'd MUCH rather eat something that hasn't been tortured just before death in the name of a ritual for a minority. There are plenty of food vendors that serve Halal.

The only reason the UK is such a pushover nowadays is because the government is terrified of being branded racist.

It's idiotic

I'm indifferent about the process, animals are treated poorly all the time if it bothered me I'd be a vegetarian.

What I have a problem with is forcing all this sort of **** upon us 'just in case it offends a muslim'. I don't give a flying **** whether a muslim is offended by non halal meat, the british flag or Christmas. If they're offended, that's their problem not ours.

I do think it's pretty harsh to cut the throat of anything without stunning it first so that it cannot know/feel what is happening.

Would you like the same to happen to you?

Granted you might not care or even think about it when chowing down on a nice 1/4 pounder, but it's not nice either way.
