GTM Libra (Honda Engined)

I'd guess most people watching this have the engines they want, it's also getting harder to sell anything on here due to Facebook IMO.
I'll ask about for you, might be able to get you £50 for it or something assuming it works?

Saying that I think you should keep it, someone's tuning their own bseries soon and might need a spare motor quick/cheap Lol

It really is an issue of space rather than money, if I keep it it's just in my way. Would have thought someone would have it for spares, failing that if you source a bare head you could have a b16a2 conversion pretty cheap as I have the manifold, tb etc too.

You using the b16a head on the b18c bottom?

Yep, with ITR cams, springs, valves, manifold, TB... Probs give it a light port clean up too. Having seen the "hand finished port job" from Honda the Type R heads got it's far less extensive than I imagined.

Ah that's alright then. I thought you was going to put the stock b16 valve train in aswell.
Iirc only early type r engines had the hand ported finish, although even this isn't great.

I saw a cut away of one and it literally looks like someone's spent a minute with a flap wheel behind the valves. Even I can do that :D

Yeah it's definitely thrown out of proportion tbh
It's more of a quick clean up than a port/polish, not that the engines seem to suffer for it or anything

Bit of an exhaust port clean up/ polish and on the inlets probably just tidy up behind the valves like the Honda prepped heads and try to knife edge the bridges a bit whilst leaving the finish fairly rough. Not intending to actually remove much material but as it's the same as a b18c head anyway I'm sure it would be fine just bolted straight on but I fancy having a mess with the old dremel.

Yeah iv seen there port work or lack of , been that you have it off and in hand ,I'd give it a little port and polish,
You should keep the b16 inlet and cut it open and port the inside runners ,

You've not gone to town with your dremel have you ?lol
How's she coming on?

All uprights painted and new ball joints, all wishbones, mounts etc blasted and painted in POR15. I'm gonna get the wheels powder coated in the week and hopefully she will be a rolling car again this week. Then it's time to build the box and motor.

You made short work of that mate ! Good job ,
She be reving well soon enough.

The porting is as described but the inlet valves are worth having for better airflow.

Right it's a shame but I think if no ones wants this b16a2 bottom end in the next few days it's going to the tip

Done some bits over the weekend, given the block a clean and re honed it ready for assembly.

Built myself a good gearbox out of the S80 LSD integra type R box and S4C 1.6 civic box.

Used the best gears, synchros and hubs out of the two and swapped 4th gear so there will be less of a gap from 3rd - 4th. So I have better ratios the factory LSD and 4.78 FD :) Could have swapped 5th too but don't want it revving any higher than it already will be on the motorway.

Also fitted the drivers side front wishbones which were a pig to do, ran out of time after that but the passenger side should be easier with no steering rack/pedal box in the way when reaching through the monocoque.

Still plodding on, haven't bothered updating much as nothing particularly interesting to show yet, I've fitted all the wishbones etc. got my arm stuck in the car whilst doing the rear wishbone mounts :angry2: front end built up new shocks etc..

Just in the process of sorting the engine bits out and hopefully next weekend it'll be going back in. I could quite easily have the thing built as a rolling car this weekend but it'll be much easier to wait until the engine is ready and jack the whole engine/box/cradle assembly up to the back of the car an bolt to the lot to the tub than trying to crane the thing in. That's how I removed it anyway and it was dead easy. So hopefully some more exciting updates in a week or so...!

Brilliant Yazza54, good job on the box and looking forward to hearing her rumble, as long as you didn't loose any fingers or limbs, that's a good build in my books lol.
