Looked for a thread but couldn't see one, anyone up for best lap time round the ring, fully modified ek9 except forced induction ; )

GT5 Server is closed mate. Only offline playable.

I'll be doing this.
Got a little ritual of copying my cars setup and taking round the ring before I go and actually do it.
Will be forced induction though.

May have cheated, but technically still an ek9 and still N/A
2000 spoon ek9
284hp N/A, 820kg
7:20.176
Still easily beatable by a good 5secs.

I did afew runs with my cars spec just for giggles,
280hp (boosted)
Stock weight - counting weight of turbo kit and passenger (I always have a passenger lol)
Hard slicks, I find they best represent the soft semi slicks we have.
Then put my suspension settings in and went 7:42 lol not happening in real life lol

Ooft I feel bad now, no where near those times :( what's your guys settings? This with a dual shock or wheel?

That's on a controller, haven't got a wheel.
The spoon ek9 is pretty special so most of my time is in that tbh.
Spring rates 10f 8r
Dampers 8f - 8r
Camber -3f -2r
Toe 0f - -10r

Then all your clutch upgrades, diff etc
Soft slicks

Ta, what gear ratios? I'm topping out at 150mph, I tried taller but lap time was worse, kept falling out the powerband.

Looks like I need to buy a Spoon 9 rather than a premium... What does the race car mod actually do to each car btw?

I was topping out at 146mph.

I can upload a full tune for my civic once i get home. It's all there, suspension, diff, gearing etc. The GT6 civic still needs work, it feels a wee bit too stiff. The GT5 civic is just about perfect for me. Tops out around 185 mph

Is gt6 worth it? Keep looking at ps4's but don't get time to play it really, wish they would release brands for gt5 though :(

GT6 was meant to be a DLC for GT5. It's sort of a stepping stone in its own respect to GT7. You can pick up a copy for cheap nowadays. Nothing really major to shout about, the tracks and cars are what you'd expect from a Gran Turismo game, and the customisation seems to have improved.

I'd personally get it. GT5 servers are closed so GT6 is kinda the only option. PS4 + GT7 should be awesome though

Cheers, I'll get a copy if 7 isn't out by the time I get a ps4. On the subject of the ring there is 1 corner that drives me mad Schwedenkreuz, 50% of the time I can take it flat the other 50% of the time I fly into the wall! This is the same car same settings etc, you're on the limiter in 6th each time you get there just seems random, any advice?

Aye, that corner you wanna be doing it at about 140mph on the EK (if you have the flat bottom on GT6 you can probably get closer to 150) You wanna set yourself up in the following manner:

- Coming down the straight, you want to position yourself about 2/3rd's of the way to the right of the track
- Approaching the bend, there is kinda like a dip in the track, you want to use that to your advantage, if you hit it wrong, your car balance gets messed up and you go wide
- Try to move from right to left going into that turn as per usual (the racing line) however, I've found that dropping down to 5th, even if you're redlining 5th, the EK's rear isn't as loose. (I don't recommend this irl LOL)
- If you do it right, you should be able to take the corner just fine, however for me personally, I always try to go for my left side wheels to be slightly on the grass. It may not be ideal for everyone, but I've taken that turn at 152mph on GT6.

Do those steps and watch for that bump, that's what throws you off.

Entry speed shouldn't be flat out, you won't stay on the track.

Also, you're going to want to brake quite hard for the next corner, using gears to help you slow down, best way to keep momentum is to stay in 3rd gear (depends on your gearbox though obviously) like that you don't really loose much oomph lol.

That corners a ****er in real life lol
There's a bump right near the apex that lifts the whole car up, unsettling it.
Best to lift before and then hit the throttle to pull you through before you hit the bump.
