I just orderd a set of KW v.2 inox.. Heard good things about it. Orderd 'skunk2 pro series +' front camber kit and 'skunk2 pro' camber kit for the rear. Also orderd skunk2 lca's but heard good things about function7 lca's.. I also got ASR subfraame with a 26(!!)mm swaybar.. Hope this will do the car some jutice.=)

Std Type R shocks and springs

One of the best balances you can buy.

Iv jus switched backwards as i got my EG6 with Tein SS's on, i went to spoon progressives on KYB's but didnt feel right and now iv gone to fully Standard shocks and springs off a DC2 and iv never felt the car so balanced. Wish i had done this years ago!

YouTube - Type-R Legend 4/6

Shows how much stiffer the Type R stuff is over std vti/sir.

but i would like the car to be lowered to a fair bit more than standered ek9 springs anyway .

Well what do you want? Explain a bit what your goin to be using it for would help??

Good street balance.
Solid Track setup
or jus really low.

+1

you need to specify what youre going to use the car for. no point us suggesting one thing if your setup will need another

PS - there was a thread like this on civiclife not long ago, lots of peoples reviews on all sorts of coilovers in that thread:))

And if you want lower, replace the springs for Eibachs.

Will sit at a sensible height, have perfect balance and ride well over bumpy roads of which we have so many in the UK. It's cheap too, you can't go wrong! :nice:

Not too sure about LCAs dude, but have a look into the meister r coilovers. Theres a special offer going on at the moment for these on the dc2 forum:nice:

Any chance you know the spring rates for eibachs? I was concidering these ,as mine now looks like its on stillts being on the std ITR springs.

I did find them once, I'll have a look. I know they were stiffer than my Tanbes at 4.1/2.8, but probably softer than my Spoons at 6.3/5.5.

ETA: Found them, 310F/275R (lb/in), or 5.5F/4.9R (kg/mm) for the Sportlines.

Prokit is 290/190 (5.2/3.4).

Looking at this, I really want to get the Sportlines fronts and keep my Spoon rears.

I have a set of spoons but jus couldn't get used to the rear bein so hard, makes the back end way to twitchy at speed for my likings.

Plus i need somthing with a bit more comfort.

I came from tein SS's witch were 8k/4k to start with then i got 5k springs for the rear and an ITR rear ARB. so i got used to a softer rear. That setup was ok but even then still way to understeering. And wasnt really wat i was looking for. As i started off with never having the car on standards i didnt realise how balanced the type R stuff could feel.

yeah man staying factory to the R will definately give you an all around great feel. If you want to be able to drive daily and hit the track every now and again. Keep what you got on there stock. But if your talking about hitting the track daily and this is a straight race car then get some stiffer suspension. Good luck

I don't find the rear hard in propertion to the front on mine, but then it is a different car with a different setup so impossible to compare. What tyres do you use?

Yea id expect the EG6 to be a bit lighter over the rear. So may seem stiffer with the spoon setup.

Was running Eagle F1s GSD3s but cnt find or fund them at the moment.

An tires are kinda all i can get my hands on at the mo but managed some Potenza RE040 on the rear 185/55R15 , 1/4 worn free off sales car at work. Will have to do for now. An sume cheapy nexens on the front.

Bear in mind the car is going into hibernation with my dad as i wont have a license for a while.

I use the car daily and once i have it all sorted i would like to use it on the track the odd time .
I think geting the ek9 set up with lowering springs sounds like a good idea . Wat price are we talking for this ? Brand new if you can still get it all brand new ?
Also what hight for the springs would you recomend ? Am like the car being low but i have a 4 branch manifold witch sits about 2 inch of the ground just now and im going to fit a spoon front lip . Dont want to waste the lip and manifold ?
Could not tell you how low car is just now as the coilovers that are on car wer on when i bouight it .

Cheers guys

A 20mm drop will do you fine if you have clearance issues. I had about 40mm on my EK4 wiht no clearance issue and it scraped on bloody everything, seriously annoying.

New Eibachs will cost you £160 which for the quality is a good price. If you want a little stiffer, Spoon Progressives are around £250.

Don't buy cheap crap like Tenzo R whatever you do!

Have you got camber adjusters on your car already? I'm using function 7 lca's updated drop links and BC racing coilovers. Camber adjuster are SPC ones.

rebushed oem lca's are best, means you dont have to faff about with expensive aftermarket drop links that wear out quick

as for good suspension, oem suspension is great! from experience, no point in fitting expensive coilovers unless you're fitting camber adjusters and setting it up proper
