Car(s)
98 jdm dc2, 85 ae86, 89 prelude
So after getting the dc2 running again ive done some good miles in it and went to the Hiro Racing trackday at mondello park. I opted out of taking the car on as im still put off by the thought of blowing it ive decided its just for road driving and with it being almost to a finished state im left with not much to tinker with in the garage and the want for something i can bash on track and progressively improve as i go. So the hunt began. After a couple of weeks i was offered a facelift ej9 for a mere £700! The question remained though whats wrong with it? in all honesty bar the paintwork its a solid car, just needs some love........and maybe a kswap

The main reason i jumped at it was the lack of rust. But its also a non abs, non sunroof model with manual windows and manual mirrors! So its basically a race base

Right so while i accumulate parts for this build i plan on running the car as a "daily" as its ideal for putting my kids and dogs in compared to the dc2. First on the list was fit an exhaust as the buyer kept his wheels and catback for another build. I picked up this oem b pipe locally and chucked it on as the car still had the oem cat. @Kanjabrer_kyle also offered me his old axleback to get it through an mot so ill chuck that on for now.

long term my plans are for this to be something i can take on track as the integra holds too much sentimental value for me to be okay with putting it into a wall at knockhill. So the objective is simple. Build the fastest car possible for the budget and have a laugh doing it.

Couple free hours meant i could nip out and bodge the rest of the exhaust together, bit of wire to hang it on and some tired old spring bolts i dug out a drawer and we are golden until i get a 3 inch system made up.

I Was also kindly donated a radio as the car came with an old casette player with no face. Thanks @RyanSi!

And so the scavenging begins! Eg subframe, alloy rad and ep3 engine and charge loom aquired.

Also took delivery of a k24a but looks like its had some sort of issue wether it be water logging or a blown head gasket the intake ports dont look good, luckily the seller is replacing it with a better one next week so ill update when i get it.

I have a built k24 cammed here if any good?
Cheers man but ik en route to replace it today, already aquired ep3 cams for when i get the new one back up too

Great day out with @RyanSi and @Kanjabrer_kyle, went and collected the replacement engine from the seller, this one is mint, gave it a check over, cams look good, chain is timed up bang on and oil looks fine too. We even stopped by to visit @B18C'R EK on the way home and scoped out some parts to tick off the list. Was cool finally putting a face to a name ive seen floating round the forums and facebook pages for over 10 years now. Project ghetto is officially under way!

Jdm k24a ready to get what it needs.

Nice to meet you to brother, its been a long time

Well well, i said id calm down with the purchases but here we are. I managed to bag myself an rsp manifold for the k24 as its apparently the go too out of all the oem k series inlets. £80 too!
1000057854.jpg

I will however be getting the t7 bolt in velocity stacks to squeeze out some more ponys.
I Also got my hands on a doctonic ecu as a friend had one up for a price i couldnt say no too!
1000057857.jpg

I will be holding off on purchases until i get the dc2 mapped and the prelude sold.

havnt heard the rsp manifold is the go to personally but will be looking to see what power this makes with it fitted as if it is good then it can be a cheap alternative to other OEM manifolds

I thought everyone buys RBC.

From what im reading, if your k24 the rsp offers better mid range than the rbc and rrc which is ideal with the rev limitations of a 24.
I thought everyone buys RBC.
Rbc is the most popular oem upgrade especially for k20, the t7 kit gives an extra 14hp on a k20z4 id like to see how it fares on a 24

More parts coming through the door for the budget k24 swap. Shout out @B18C'R EK for the quick delivery and honest sale! Sorted out with a ktuned conversion harness and some engine mounts!

I noticed station vtec was breaking an ep3 with an oem throttle body and RBC adapter plate which i needed to let me fit it to the RSP inlet so i snapped that up!
1000058554.jpg

Im also in talks about a few more vital parts so its about time i look into tearing the ek down for preparation.

Keeping up with the budget theme i managed to pick up a used kswap manifold and billet shifter for a very good price.

I got bored last night and decided to committ to not using the ek as a winter daily, @RyanSi came over to give me a hand and he brought goodies with him. A set of ep3 cams with vtc and a k20a2 oil pump kit.
1000058778.jpg

After that we got the tunes fired up and yanked the d14!

While i had time i chucked in the two front mounts, ill fit the rear once i get subframe bolts. Full d14 swap is available too, would do deals for k parts.

Not much to report, old d14 engine swap is sold and i swapped the oem subframe setup for a pair of eg/dc2 front lower arms
1000059412.jpg

I also had a spare minute so ran the conversion harness and fitted the doctronic ecu. Ill pull the ecu to get it flashed for a k24 when the dc2 gets mapped though.

Update on the ek so far!
Firstly the eg subframe and front arms went on along with the used set of meister r coilovers. I also fitted the hardrace rear lower control arms that came with the car.

1000069316.jpg

next i chucked on a set of wolfrace wheels that were donated to the build. I have a set of rainsport 5 tires sitting just havent fitted them yet.

Next up i pulled the centre console and fitted the snazzy chinese billet shifter with oem knob
1000069321.jpg

Next up was prepping the engine. The current k24a got a basic setup, a used ep3 intake cam and oil pump donated by @RyanSi we left the chain as is as it wasnt showing signs of stretch.

Bear in mind this is a budget build and we are rolling with the "aint broke dont fix it" motto. At the end of the day this is just for cheap thrills.

better update this as i go, fn2 flywheel and used blueprint clutch fitted (yes i know but this is a ghetto ass build and im a sucker for authenticity) then chucked on the unknown condition ep3 box and heaved her in there. All done in less than an hour then grabbed a cuppa to celebrate.
