So i was driving home from the gym last night and i got to a set of traffic lights. just as i was about to pull off it stalled. Started it again, stalled again. Started it again and drove for another 1 mile or so.

Started to go up a hill at about 30-40mph and it stalled again, tried starting it again and it wouldn't fire up, it was just tick over trying to spark.

So i rang rac and they said a 45 minute wait
i tried it after 15 mins and still nothing
i tried it after 30 mins and still nothing

i tried it after 40 minutes and it fired up. i continued waiting for the rac and he said he would follow me home. another 4 miles or so and it was fine.

drive to work this morning is about 7 miles, it takes me about 35 minutes and it was fine

so confused :/

Confused.com lol jokes whats the distributor like is it new and when did you last service it

It will be more likely to be a spark issue than a fuel issue (I am not saying it isn't a fuel issue just not as likely), when it wont start you should check if all plugs are producing a spark.

You reckon spark? I've just replaced less than 10k ago ignition module and stuff in the dizzy :/

I wasnt aware of that but I would still start with checking if each plug is firing when it wont start with a spark plug tester.

I would assume its more that one plug/lead failing as it would most likely just misfire or run on 3 if it was just one.

If its fuel related it could be as simple as a clogged filter.

hmm thanks for the info mate!

really dont have time for this anymore :(

No problem ! If you find you have a spark at all four plugs try replacing the fuel filter.

Just for info theres an easy way to check if fuel is getting to the fuel rail by taking the line off of the fuel rail (do not lose the washers though) just put the key to on position but dont crank the engine and fuel should come through the line.

This wont tell you what your injectors are doing though or fuel pressure.

Obviously this is a flammable substance so be careful with this method, only do it if your confident.

Yep I know where you mean. I saw the RAC guy do it before when trying to diagnose my ignition problem.

Thanks again

im reading on the internet, its seems likey that it is the crank position sensor

I had very similar symptoms before during a track day, started to feel like it had less and less power, then started to cut out every few miles and eventually it died completely on the way home.

Turned out to be the ignition module, fixed with a brand new one from eBay for 25 euros and it's still going strong!

If any of your mates has a b series then try swapping dizzys and see if it has any effect.:drive:

i replaced the ignition module about 10k miles ago :/

Yea I read that in the first post mate.
It's worth a try though, easy to swap a dizzy over though, and you'd know pretty much immediately if that's the problem.

I've had a few b series cars and dizzys give bother on all of them.

U know u can use a prefacelift d series dizzy Ignition coil in it too to test it? Cheaper than a b series dizzy!:nice:

Doesn't sound like a fuel problem to me though...

i replaced the ignition module about 10k miles ago :/

doesn't rule it out though

i replaced the Ignition module before on my car and right enough after some thousand miles, it failed again

that was with a blueprint job

honda charge a massive amount for this part for a reason it seems........

new oem ICM and upgraded the coil to a MSD blaster unit, not had any issues since

for me the car was missfiring under load, could tell it was dizzy related as the rev needle would bounce (rev signal comes from dizzy)

i would strip the dizzy and clean up all the contacts and such and put it back together with a new dizzy cap seal, may just be dampness due to this time of year, as i say you would usually see some sort of missfire if the ICM / coil were failing

ah okay, the one i got from the motor factors it was only a £60 part i suppose.

i going to try get an error code tonight out of it, as i dont want to be spending money on replacing stuff until im certain i know what it is.

it doesnt seem to be misfiring at all. its a complete suprise when it stall annoyingly. all it does is engine light on, 1 second later it stalls.
i did this about a week and a bit ago too.

cool, CEL light is handy! mine never threw a code at all annoyingly, but was obvious for me what it was with the missfire

doesn't rule it out though

honda charge a massive amount for this part for a reason it seems........

Lol! I nearly had heart failure when I sen the Honda price!

Can't remember now what it was but it was crazy expensive!
