*Frost White EK4* From the start.

Very well thought out and clean work buddy.

Cherry!

Thanks mate.

The car is currently just a form of transport at the minute, which is makes me sad :(

Lots I would like to do still, but time and money isn't on my side at present.

In Other News:
I did take the BMC CDA off at the weekend and replaced it for an open cone as its the winter, so heat soak isn't an issue. Feels loads better!! I reckon its gained a fair bit of mid range and up top.

That BMC is the 60mm version, aimed at 'upto 1600cc' so its probably is quite restrictive (especially with the other mods and dc2 cams). New setup is 70mm, forgot how great it sounds with this on.

ahhhhh, such a little change but so easily pleased.

Almost forgot - I replaced the gaskets on the rear lights as they were starting to leak, as all civic rear lights do...

Keeping it as a daily driver has benefits like working out all the issue while not on track; oil leaks, over heating, brakes and so on. If its track only, I can tell you, its much more difficult to get up and running if only at Track. :|

Take advantage now to get the car settled down.

Another long overdue update on the car.

Engine has done around 10k miles now and is working great, I gave it some fresh oil last week whilst doing my annual Sports Cat fitting for the MOT.

Pleased to say it went through again with only one little advisory.

I also used a bit of cutting compound to restore the headlights as they had clouded up again.

Now I have been running the OEM fanblades for over a year now. I also have 2 sets of Pro race 1.2's in 15x7 and 16x7. I plan to refurb and fit one set, refurb the blades as winters and refurb and sell the other set.

I prefer the 'look' of the 16" 1.2s however the tyres are cheaper for the 15s and they are lighter! In fact I weighed them -

Weights:

OEM fanblades - 15x6.5 with 195/55/15 tyre 15.05kg
Team Dynamics PR 1.2 -16x7 with 195/45/16 tyre 15.10kg
Team Dynamics PR 1.2 -15x7 with 195/50/15 tyre 14.15kg

Not as much weight saving as I was expecting considering the official weights are meant to me 6.2 for the 15s and 7.9 for the 16s - I guess though the difference in tyre size evens up the weight somewhat.

Anyway I have decided to repaint the 15" Team Dynamics and use daily, plus they also still have x4 T1Rs with good tread on them. What colour to do them is the next question????
They are currently bright RED which is not to my taste - My favorite so far is a Dark silver/Graphite.

I have knocked up a few options starting with the actual current red, feel free to comment what you think below.

Current RED:

GRAPHITE:

SILVER:

GOLD:

WHITE:

BRONZE:

GUNMETAL:

Gunmetal looks best, gold wheels just makes me think of all the old max power boys back in the day when Subaru brought out gold wheels on the impreza

Bronze would look ok if it was a bit darker

Started painting the wheels yesterday a nice Antracite :D will update with pics once they are on the car.

Currently tidying up a few bits on the car.

Also considering selling up all together to free up some money.. had this for 5 years now so maybe its time for a change....

Finished the wheels at the weekend. Really happy with the finish, did them anthracite in the end.

Also finished refurbing my spare engine cover....doubt it will go on the car now though as I need the money :/

Continuing to tidy the car up currently, mainly all aesthetic. Still am planning on putting her up for sale when ready as me and the girlfriend are planning to move to London early next year, meaning I'm getting a bike :D

I really like how the wheels came out. I have been wanting to do this to a few sets of my rims but I am scared of messing them up. any tips on spraying them???

Thanks! No, probs, here's a quick step by step...

1 - clean alloys with hot soapy water and a kitchen Brillo pad to get rid of all deposits.
2 - sand with 240 grit paper, get in all corners, smooth off any imperfections as best you can.
3 - mask up tyres if need be (masking tape, newspaper)
4 - 3 coats of halfords primer, make sure you get complete coverage, in all hard to reach places etc. leave time to dry between coats.
5 - Sand down primed surface with 1200 or more grit paper, until everywhere is smooth.
6 - 2-3 coats of halfords anthracite wheel paint, ensure complete coverage.

then laquer if you want afterwards.

Best tip if to sand the wheels after you primed them, giving a smooth surface for the paint, therefore giving a nice smooth finish.

When spraying, its better to do many fine coats to build it up, rather than going heavy handed and spraying it too thick in places.

Been doing lots of small tidying jobs on the car as of late, mainly cosmetic....

First was to paint some brackets and bolts from the engine bay.

Now for a while now there has been rust present in the arches. I've had a few quotes from body shops which said there is no need for a complete cut-out and replacement, just a bit of welding. Anyway for the time being I decided to touch them up, not to cover them up or repair them but just to tidy the car up until I can get them professionally done.
I know its far from perfect but at least it may slow down the process, and looks a whole lot better.
Each patch was ground down and sanded as much as possible, then simple brushed with touch up paint.

I did a fair bit of wire brushing and under-sealing underneath.

Brushed off the rust back to smooth bare metal, primed it, and sealed it up, like new!

Under the side skirts all done.

Behind the bumper, cleaned, wire brushed and under-sealed.

Decided to fit my refurbished engine cover to go with the newly painted brackets.

And finally I fitted my repainted team dynamics, really pleased with the colour.

A few shots I took on the way home from work the other night. Car is looking in much better condition overall after the jobs I have been doing as of late. Gave it a clean and polish at the weekend as well.

Overall the car is running brilliantly, real pleasure to drive, and as much as it pains me to say, I will be putting it up for sale very soon :(
