Good morning all,

a quick one, seems like my bad luck streak hasn't quite stopped yet, lol since the drivershaft incident at the garage, recently I paid for my front wheel bearing to be replaced, and now i am working on the EK in the garage over the winter, it looks like the mechanic did not put the front wheel bearing retainer ring back on, the exact part is in the video below at 4:36. would any one on here can help with where i can source this Front wheel bearing retainer ring ? or have one spare for sale? appreciate all your advice and assistance.

many thanks

Wilz

Thanks Defender, but please check closely on the video that is not the retainer ring in the link you posted. i've already seen this in stock but sadly isnt the right part.

it will be in the video fast foward to 4:34 - 4:36 you can see the guy take it out with a flat head screw driver. that ring is the part i need.

would be grateful if anyone can see if they know where i can source this from or have spare for sale.

cheers

thanks Defender, i've already phoned Honda UK for a geninue part but it does not seem like they stock this retainer ring on the back of the knuckle / hub after the front wheel bearing.

still looking for the ring .,

really appreciate your efforts though! gosh the brake splash guards are cheap in the USA! we are talking £55 per guard here in the UK ! it's only $20!

I'm pretty sure mine didn't have it either when I changed bearings the last time. I don't think it's a retaining ring at all, looks more like dust shield to me. The circlip you get with every new bearing is what actually retains the bearing.

ah ok yes that's the dust shield, shame I don't have an hydraulic press in my own garage, sadly have to let the trusted garage to do the job... but i would like to get another one of these dust shield on the back of the knuckle to protect the wheel bearing

would you know where I can source one from ?

cheers

Not sure, if you can't gt it from Honda I'm not sure where from. Are you sure it was there before? I've had two EK9s, I've changed ball joints and wheel bearings and I've never seen that bit of metal. Also, you don't need a press to get it in, you just need to pull the driveshaft out.

Yeah I've done loads of wheel bearings (I mean @Steve M has done loads for me :)) ) and that collar has never been there....

I’ve done a fair few wheel bearings on EK’s and I’ve never come across that before. Maybe a US market only thing?

thanks for your help Steve! that's odd, i will need to double check as long as the retainer ring isn't important I was under the impression that this is to prevent road dirt getting into the bearing.

many thanks
