Just wondering where you other track car owners mount your front tow straps or hooks to? I have the rear one mounted on the rear tow eye...

Can't seem to find a suitable place on the chassis for my tow strap to go so that it can poke through the bumper to be seen. I want it to function or there's no point having it.

In for comments on this as well as I need a front tow hook/strap for track!

My front tow eyes have been removed and my front splitter mounts using the old tow eye bolts!

I don't think you can mount it anywhere else other than the original location tbh, some people mount it on the slam panel but personally I think that is not strong strong enough. It depends on how much are you willing to drill holes in your bumper etc?

I guess yeah! I thought slam panel but don't think it's strong enough either. It's designed to bend so...

Chassis leg would be good but really far away from the bumper... This is why I'm stuck

I love cutting holes in my bumper so any suggestions I will try!

I can't use original location as the splitter mounts are there :/ that's my only problem

It's tough to place tbh. Must be someone who's done it

Can you not weld something on it Logan?

That is on my list of options, going to weld some brackets for my splitter tie rods so if I can't find a suitable place I may weld something on for a front tow eye

Intrigued to see what you do!

Main reason I'm asking is because mine broke on track at Oulton the other day and we had to pull it on the truck backwards as I only have my rear hook lol. Front ones would damage the bumper as they are... So that's why I'm after a visible one.

Do you think the bumper bar would be too weak as well? The mounting points for that go through the slam panel into the chassis leg iirc

I've set mine up so that the front bumper comes off in less than a minute.
From there I'd just get them to toe it from the bumper bar most likely.
Unless your in the gravel it's only the rolling weight of the car....
Small test. Take bumper off and try and push your car backwards via the crash bar.
Mine is a thin lightweight one aswell and I think it will hold fine.

mines mounted under crash bar been towed plenty of times including vicious tow through gravel so it works

I know it's an old thread but I thought I'd update it for future reference:
This is how I mounted towing eye on my car. Ideally I guess you would want it bolted straight onto the bumper bar but this way it sits a little lower and clears the bumper. It also allows you to swivel it around easily - the upper nut is dead tight and holds the bolt in place while the lower locknut is tight enough to just allow the tow eye to swivel, hope that makes sense lol. The result is a tow eye that is tucked away but can be pulled out very quickly and you can tow the car straight or from quite some angle without catching the bumper! I'll see how it performs, if it gets bent because of the little bit of extra leverage I'll just move it and bolt it straight on. My bumper comes off in 30 seconds anyway so no big deal, I just wanted to do it as simple as possible to use. You need to drill two holes in your bumper bar, smaller one at the bottom and large one at the top - big enough for the washer you'll use which means quite big! Btw this is not my idea, I found a similar solution someone used on a DC2 at HondaTech, I just made it so that it can swivel around and get tucked away when not in use.
