Ive fitted fn2 breaks to my ek4 for around a week now.. whike braking has defonetly improved i had a look at them tonight and the brand new discs have got surface rust around thr outer 20mm... Now i know this is some sort of contact fault but im struggling to think why.? I have also noticed when the brakes are applied the calipers themselfs seem to move excesivly which is worying :/ Im gonna inspect them properly in the morning but just wandering if the movent of the calipers is normal as its nothing ive thaught of checking in the past. Thanks

I dont think the calipers should be moving at all..
Maybe that is the reason you have uneven surface contact on the rotor..

just checking with you on this, are the disc's the right size for the calipers?

What thickness ate your discs? Also check your carrier bolts before you drive it.

Make sure you installed the calipers correcty too. Clean all the mating surfaces, as sometimes a small piece of "hard debris" can sit between the mounting surfaces of both the caliper and the wheel hub, making the caliper sit wrong.

Also use 12.9 strengh grade bolts for the calipers, if you are not using OEM bolts.
Lower grade bolts could stretch or even bend under normal to hard braking conditions, causing similar issues as you are describing.

By 'moving' do you mean in and out, as in when you go on and off the pedal the caliper moves closer / further from the back of the wheel spokes? If so this is normal as they are floating calipers, usually the movement is hardly seen as the brake slider pins can become corroded and diminish the floating effect.

If the caliper is actually moving up and down when you brake then yes, that is a problem.

Yes, but he says his brake discs got rusted at about 20mm on the peripheral area of these... it seems the brake pads are not sitting correctly for some reason.
