First swiss EK9 (TypeRx) and modding story

this toda header is the best you added till now in your car .

dont think the rest of the parts are bad for my goals too, because im trying to build a high-power car who is street legal, and that's very complicated here in switzerland. but i've done a lot of research and that's why i've chosen all the parts. there will be more cool items in near future too :D

jeah, Li'l Update 2day :D

9) at the same take we also swapped the Genuine shifter
to a C's short throw shifter. perfect fit!!

other items we made.
- Swapped the lamda sensor to the new toda header
- replaced the left side "type-r" sticker by a new one, because the old one was crappy..

what im waiting for now:
- waiting for the Mainfold Tung
- cut the center pipe (with the only part not 60mm in the pipe) and add a correct flange for fitting EK9, because the exhaust ist an EK4 item basicly and they have different lenghts

More pictures and soundfiles will follow as soon as done!

The exhaust looks great and fits perfectly, i hope my setup will perform fine and have a nice sound that will be possible to legalize here with switzerland's hare law

hope you enjoy my pictures and more to come soon

nice... luv the header!!

upload pics of the cutting & welding of the new flange if possible... :nice:

Cutting and Welding will be done outside by a specials "welding company" because we cannot weld Stainless steel pipes in good quality ourselves and they also have to manufacture the three-hole flange but I'll try to make some pictures of the results..

nice! thanks for sharing the photos!

got the header mounted yesterday. center pipe will be ready to mount in the middle of next week, so hopefully next saturday i will have the whole system mounted. Next update to come soon ;)

This is a great tread .fair play :nice:

I WANT THAT HEADER!!!!!!!!

Lil parts update today again:

HKS Speed limiter defender (SLD) type I.
will kick the JDM speed limiter at 180 km/h for my nürburgring-visit at eastern hollidays :D

it's not the real solution but ok for this moment. i think with future mods i will change the ECU to something like Apexi, etc.. let's see...

exhaust setup will be complete within this week too. the welding company had so much work, they didn't habe time yet for welding my exhaust :(

Its all looking great! Cant wait to hear how it sounds, Is that a sports cat AND a bottle resonator???

that muffler is one mean-looking-stuff from behind...how is the sound coming out from it?

another few horses is on the farm..hhehe

So, next big update:
sadly the cam didn't want to work (batty was empty) but i will post soundfiles, videos and Pictures after eastern holidays @ the nürburgring.

anyway, i mounted some parts last few weeks:

1) Type-R decal on the left side was replaced thru a new one, because the old one was damaged -> car looks like new now :)

2) HKS SLD Type I was mounted! thanks to the guys here for their advice and help! performs well, was not able to check if the limitations was deleted yet because i didn't have any numberplates with me for testing on the roads. :(

3) C's Short stroke shifter was mounted -> Hell, this item rocks :) about 40-50% less shifter-way, and the shifter sits much stronger now, really great, would recoommand this item to everyone :nice:

4) now the most important part, the exhaust system!

Hell yeah, sound is really awesome! great deep rumbling and in higher revs that really great Race-sound! was not able to make some performance checks because i only was able to drive around the parking in front of my garage :) but will post performance-check too after easter on nürburgring :D

ok, made some measurements too:
1. Parking car with no throttle - 80dB (it's great, top deep rumbling)
2. different throttles on parking (car was not mooving, butt pushed the gas pedal) - 85,5 dB (sound is absolutley porn :shocked::D and measurement is ok!)
3. Drive-by measurement (about 1m above ground and about 4m between car and measurement -> 93dB (about same measurement as for swiss new-car homologation that i still have to do with my car)

way too loud :( max allowed for this measurent (drive-by) is allowed 74dB for all cars newer than 1995 builded.
so now i have to mount any extra silencers like this one and the usually silenvers for the tail-pipe, hopefully the sound will be not that loud anymore and ok for the measurement!

please note that our measurment was really not that proffessional as they do where i have to check the car so there may be differences, but im sure i will get the care including the whole exhaust systems street legal this summer. but until then it's a long way and a lot of work i think, but ok. i think i have to do that for having the one and only (street legal!) ek9 here in switzerland!

law here really sucks

have a nice weekend - Nils
